Complete accident that this tune came on during some core work…then spent 15 mins trying to repeat it perfectly to film 😂

PROGRESS!
Just a quick one to say progress isn’t just about the scales or the aesthetic.
It might be you’re lifting heavier weights, or more reps.
It might be some metrics from a smart device. I love my Apple Watch, I know it’s not the most accurate but if it’s consistently inaccurate that’s good enough! My cardio recovery has been improving and my cardio fitness is high.
When other metrics might get me down (which they do) I come back to these and remember I’m strong and I’m fit and I’m doing a good thing taking care of myself.

Investing in yourself!
I feel a little controversial writing this one in the times we’re living in currently so I will be as sensitive as possible ☺️
If January hasn’t been quite as healthy and happy as you were aiming for, and that’s ok btw, is there anything you can to do help you on your way? Any little investment in yourself or something you can make? Maybe a one off monthly subscription to some on demand classes, a running top in the sale or even just a new water bottle?! Or something that’s free - a set time put aside for you each week or diarise your lunch break for movement. I don’t want to say you have to spend ££ as that’s not possible for all, but sometimes a small investment goes a long way. I have so much wear out of my thermal leggings but even my running warm headband makes a difference - not sure I’d have been out running otherwise!
For me, I have invested in the gym and some more serious strength training and I’m loving it, feeling a big difference already and also learning lots! 💪🏻

Set yourself a mini goal for Jan. Something achievable and something you’ll enjoy working towards!
This is a real throwback photo, coming on for 6 years ago 😬 , but shows when I could really nail a headstand 💁🏼♀️
So that’s going to be a little goal for me this month, I’m going to work on being able to do one again. Part of this is overcoming the fear of being upside down - I wasn’t allowed to for a period of time after my surgery and I must have really internalised that. But there’s no reason not to now, so inversions here I come!

I’m not going to blow your mind with today’s post, but after all the festivities hopefully you’ve had your fill of excitement 😜
Today is about planning! 🗓 Undoubtedly a little organisation and upfront planning really does help with a healthier lifestyle.
My tip, however, is to break that planning down into a period that works for you. Personally, planning my whole week is too much and aprosos of anything else I get bored! I find Monday to Friday much more doable. It’s not to say I won’t plan for the weekend, just not that far ahead of time! I’m also more likely to know what I have in store when I plan to a shorter time frame so my plan is more realistic - and therefore I’m likely to stick to it!
So, I do encourage a bit of planning, meals and training times, but find the planning period that works for you and hopefully you too will have more success in making your plan a reality 😊

Happy New Year! 🥳
My lofty intention of posting every day in December didn’t even last as long as the bout of COVID that put it, and me, to bed.
I wanted to pick it up once I felt better, but honestly, life on its own was enough. Much like everyone else, though I was better, illness pervaded our little abode with both girls being really poorly one after the other. And then there’s work, the Christmas pressures etc etc!
Anyway, I don’t need to dwell in that space! We still had a fab time as a family and only a few weeks until we have a super exciting holiday coming up!
Whilst it might not be every day in Jan, I am going to try and post more - sharing what’s keeping me healthy and happy!

🎄Thoughts for day 2 - what does being happy and healthy mean to you through the Festive period? 🎄
Have a think about that and it’ll be easier to achieve it!
For some, this period might be about total indulgence, and if so good for you! Enjoy it, recognise you’re good with that and don’t feel guilty. 🥳
For others, it might be more of a balance. I’m in this camp - with all my hormone issues I have put on weight and am slowly working to lose it. I will absolutely have moments of indulgence (and am going to enjoy them guilt free), but I’m going to be keeping my exercise levels up and trying to maintain healthy nutrition outside of those occasions.
If you can be honest with yourself it’s much easier to motivate yourself to get out for that walk, or get more enjoyment from that Brie and cranberry sandwich! 😋

Harri T’s Ho Ho Ho!
I’m going to try and post something every day in the run up to Christmas…not quite an advent countdown but helpful, maybe even fun (!) 😜, ways to keep have a healthy and happy festive season!
My first one is…get your steps in! Even if you do workout, if you don’t get much other movement that day your calorie expenditure is going to be quite low. And if you don’t manage to get a workout going, walking is a great way to up your calorie burn. But it’s not just about calories, the mental health benefits are fantastic and it’s just so good to move and get outside!
Can you do a walking meeting? Get outside on your lunch break for a walk (you won’t need to fit a shower in!), avoid part of a horrible commute by walking instead?!
So tip number one, get walking! Those boots were made for it 😜
