Third Day in Spain 🇪🇸

On this journey, I’ve noticed something striking—I hardly see Black (African) people. On my flight ✈️, I was the only Black man. Most of the people I’ve met are from Sweden 🇸🇪, Norway, Denmark, Finland, and other European countries. Even in the videos I’ve taken, it’s rare to spot someone who looks like me.

It made me reflect. Maybe many Africans don’t feel the need to travel abroad for vacation. The places we call “home”—our villages and countries—often serve as our own getaway. In a way, it shows contentment with what we have.

But then I wondered—could it be about income? Maybe people don’t earn enough to consider international travel. Yet, on second thought, you don’t always need to be extremely wealthy to travel.

So I came to a deeper conclusion: the real issue is the system.

A poorly managed system weakens the passport, making visas difficult to obtain. It keeps salaries low while travel costs remain high. It turns something as simple as a vacation into a luxury instead of a normal experience.

Our governments can do better. Countries like Nigeria are rich in beautiful tourist destinations, but real progress depends on fixing the system first—making travel more accessible, improving economic opportunities, and strengthening global mobility.
