🇨🇦 Parkinson’s Disease & Medical Cannabis
Canadian healthcare professionals continue to explore the role of medical cannabis in helping manage symptoms associated with Parkinson’s disease.
Emerging research and patient reports suggest cannabinoids may help improve symptoms such as pain, sleep disturbances, anxiety, muscle rigidity and overall quality of life in some individuals living with Parkinson’s.
While more large-scale clinical studies are needed, researchers around the world continue to investigate the therapeutic potential of cannabis-based medicines for neurological conditions.
Importantly, medical cannabis is not considered a cure for Parkinson’s disease. However, growing evidence suggests it may offer meaningful symptom relief for certain patients when used under appropriate medical supervision.
As research expands and access improves, cannabis-based medicines could become an increasingly important part of the conversation around patient-centred neurological care.

🇩🇪Cannabis in Germany 2026
Where does Germany stand on legal commercial cannabis sales?👇
Two years after Germany shook Europe by decriminalising personal cannabis use, many people are asking: where are the licensed retail dispensaries?
We’re breaking down the latest developments surrounding Pillar 2—the proposed framework for commercial regional pilot projects.
🛑 The Current Status: As of mid-2026, no federally approved commercial cannabis retail programme has launched in Germany. While numerous municipalities—including Berlin, Frankfurt and Hanover—have explored participation in Pillar 2 pilot projects, recreational cannabis sales through licensed retail outlets remain unavailable.
⚖️ The Political Gridlock: Following recent political changes, a more conservative policy environment has slowed federal movement on Pillar 2. Opposition within parts of government continues to challenge proposals for commercial cannabis sales.
🌱 What Is Legal Right Now? While adults still cannot purchase recreational cannabis from retail dispensaries, the core provisions of Germany’s cannabis law remain in force. Adults can legally grow up to 3 plants at home, possess up to 25g in public, up
to 50g at home and access cannabis through registered, non-profit Cannabis Social Clubs.
🌍 The Broader Impact: While recreational retail remains stalled, Germany’s medical cannabis market continues to expand rapidly, with patient numbers, prescribing activity, and product availability all increasing.
What do you think, would similar laws work in the U.K.?

🌿 Cannabis legalisation isn’t just changing drug policy — it’s reshaping entire industries.
Where legal cannabis markets have been introduced, the effects reach far beyond cannabis itself.
📉 Criminal justice systems have seen substantial reductions in cannabis-related arrests, freeing up police, court and prison resources.
💰 Governments have generated billions in tax revenue that can be reinvested into public services, education and healthcare.
🏛️ Legal markets provide tested, regulated products, helping shift consumers away from unregulated illicit sources.
🍺 Research shows some adults substitute cannabis for alcohol, contributing to reductions in alcohol sales in certain legal markets.
💊 Studies have also found that some patients use cannabis as an alternative to prescription opioids and other medications, although more research is needed to fully understand these effects.
No policy is perfect, and legalisation isn’t a silver bullet. But after years of real-world data, the evidence increasingly suggests that regulating cannabis can deliver social, economic and public health benefits that prohibition simply cannot.
The question is no longer whether cannabis legalisation creates change.
The question is whether we’re willing to learn from the places where that change is already happening.

🌿 Does cannabis lower testosterone? A new study suggests the opposite.
For decades, cannabis has been linked to reduced testosterone levels, largely based on small studies from the 1970s. But new research from Switzerland paints a more complex picture.
Researchers compared 47 cannabis users with 47 non-users aged 18–23 and analysed 70 different steroid hormones. Cannabis users showed:
✅ ~23% higher testosterone levels
✅ Higher androstenedione (a testosterone precursor)
✅ Higher dihydrotestosterone (DHT), a potent androgen
Interestingly, the increase appeared to come from the te**es, while adrenal androgen production remained unchanged.
What the study does show is that the long-standing claim that cannabis automatically lowers testosterone may not be supported by the latest evidence.

Thailand’s cannabis market is shifting 🇹🇭🌿
After becoming the first country in Asia to decriminalise cannabis in 2022, Thailand has officially tightened controls, moving into a strict, medical-only framework.
This shift reached a turning point with a May 2026 crackdown, as Thailand’s Public Health Ministry rolled out new ministerial regulations enforcing heavy restrictions:
• Medical prescriptions are now legally required for all cannabis flower purchases, capped at a 30-day supply.
• Clinic conversions mean licenses are restricted strictly to registered medical facilities, pharmacies, and herbal medicine shops.
• Strict record-keeping requires businesses to keep detailed sales records and face sudden government inspections.
• On-site oversight from licensed healthcare or traditional medicine professionals is mandated to supervise sales.
Officials say the move aims to improve public safety, eliminate unregulated recreational use, and strengthen Thailand’s long-term medical cannabis sector.
Between Law and Reality: While these May 2026 regulations are officially active and authorities are conducting high-profile dispensary inspections, the actual transition is still very much a work in progress.
Because local attitudes toward the plant remain relatively relaxed and thousands of shops are still open, closing the gap between strict government mandates and daily on-the-ground reality is expected to take considerable time.
The Bigger Picture: This highlights a major global trend. Countries are increasingly separating highly regulated medical cannabis from loosely regulated adult-use markets.
Thailand’s cannabis story continues to evolve—and the world is watching closely. 🌍

🌲 Humans are the only creatures on Earth that cut down a tree, turn it into paper, then write “Save the Trees” on it.
Every year, millions of hectares of forest are lost worldwide, contributing to biodiversity loss, habitat destruction, soil degradation and increased carbon emissions. While sustainable forestry has a role to play, it’s worth asking whether there are better options for some of the products we rely on every day.
Enter h**p. 🌿
Industrial h**p can be harvested in as little as 3–4 months, compared with the decades needed for most paper-producing trees. It can produce multiple crops per year in suitable climates, requires relatively few pesticides, improves soil health, and yields large amounts of usable fibre.
In fact, some estimates suggest that 1 acre of h**p can produce as much paper fibre as 2–4 acres of trees over the same period.
H**p won’t replace forests entirely, but it could significantly reduce the pressure we place on them.
🌿 Faster growth.
🌿 Multiple annual harvests.
🌿 High fibre yield.
🌿 Renewable and versatile.
🌿 Less pressure on forests.
Maybe the real way to save more trees is to stop relying on them for everything.

For decades, opponents of cannabis reform warned that legalisation would lead to more crime.
The evidence continues to point in the opposite direction.
A new study found that medical cannabis legalisation was associated with reductions in property crime, while recreational legalisation was associated with reductions in violent crime.
Rather than fuelling crime, regulated cannabis markets may help reduce criminal activity by replacing illicit trade with legal, controlled access.
Another prediction of prohibition has failed to stand up to scrutiny.

Greece is tightening restrictions on cannabis-derived retail products 🇬🇷
New legislation and enforcement measures are restricting the sale of dried h**p/CBD flower products, while banning sales of cannabis-derived products through kiosks, mini markets and vending machines.
The move is being framed as a public health and consumer protection measure, particularly around youth access and unregulated products.
Greece continues to permit medical cannabis under prescription, but recreational cannabis remains illegal.

“The Biggest Killer on the Planet is Stress. The Best Medicine is and Always Has Been Cannabis.”
While cannabis isn’t a cure-all, a growing body of research suggests cannabinoids may help some people manage stress, anxiety, sleep issues and chronic pain when used appropriately.
For thousands of years, cannabis has been valued as both a medicinal plant and a source of wellbeing.
Modern science continues to explore how compounds like THC, CBD, CBG, CNB and the entourage effect interact with our endocannabinoid system to support balance throughout the body.
One thing is clear: chronic stress has become one of the biggest health challenges of our time.
