ANNOUNCEMENT 📢

I am truly honoured to accept the role as the next President of the Institute of Trichologists (IOT) ☺️

The IOT is a progressive, forward-thinking organisation, and I’m proud to support its continued work in raising standards, strengthening professional recognition, and promoting excellence in trichology ✅

As a practising Consultant Dermatologist who has looked after patients with hair loss and scalp issues for over 16 years, I have seen first-hand how the landscape has evolved for patients, physicians, trichologists, and allied professionals.

While progress has been made, it’s clear there is still a need for more integrated pathways across the hair and scalp industry. Historically, many of us have worked in parallel rather than together — a model that underserves many people living with hair and scalp conditions.

Today, medicine and wellness are more closely aligned than ever before, and trichology sits at this unique and important intersection. As President of the IOT, I am excited to work with a dynamic and dedicated community of trichologists to help evolve the profession, strengthen collaboration across disciplines, streamline the patient journey, and ultimately deliver better outcomes for those we support, as we continue to shape the future of trichology together. 🤝

And so my 45th lap around the Sun starts today ✨. I can't say the last year has been easy for many reasons, but what it does reinforce is the importance of being in the present - because ultimately that is all that we truly have ❤️.

And when I do pause and take the time to see what and who is around me, I feel incredibly loved and lucky in life 🙏☺️

This year will be stressful - no doubt. A project I have poured my heart and soul into over the last 18+ months will hopefully come to fruition and I can't wait to share more 😍 but for now it's more birthday cuddles and kisses with my nearest and dearest ☺️🎊🎉

Earlier in the week Vichy held their first Scalp & Hair Academy webinar on seborrhoeic dermatitis (the scalp condition behind dandruff). The above infographic summarises the key take aways which mirror my own experience and practice in treating this condition.

👉 In my clinic I recommend Vichy Dercos DS shampoo as first line treatment for dandruff regardless of severity.

👉 It's multimodal action in rebalancing the microbiome, supporting the skin barrier and correcting sebum composition on the scalp quickly relieves symptoms of itching and scaling.

👉 Because of it's effectiveness and how non-medicated it feels to use, it has been the one product that has made the biggest difference in preventing relapses.

It’s good to know that other international experts are also reporting the same positive experience with their patients using Dercos DS 💚

March highlight 🎉

I actually don't remember the last time I was in any sort of sporting competition (U11's netball seems to ring a bell...🤔) but earlier in the month I took part in the calisthenics pull and dip challenge hosted by .kulture .e1 and sponsored by

It was a real privilege to participate alongside and watch incredible athletes at this event. Never in a million years would I have expected to be taking part in something like this (definitely not at 44 lol), let alone getting a new PB and being placed 4th out of top 5 women in the challenge. It was a real pinch me moment ✨

I started calisthenics in Jan 2024 with zero expectations other than wanting to get just one bodyweight pull up and to feel a bit stronger in the shoulders having had rotator cuff injuries in both several years ago.

What I didn't realise was just how addictive calisthenics is, particularly when you start to see and feel a stronger version of yourself. What started as 1 class a week quickly escalated to 3-4. There is always something more you can do in cali - more reps, weighted reps, more advanced versions of skills...there is always the next level to challenge yourself with and that is what I love about it. I was pretty hooked a while ago, but in case there was any doubt over my obsession I have now been there, done it, got the T shirt and am most definitely here to stay to do a lot more of it 🤗

I have had quite a few people ask me recently, but I would encourage anyone thinking about starting cali to just go for it! Our bodies are capable of incredible things and cali makes you realise that pretty quickly.
If you are a bit apprehensive about starting, you couldn't be in better hands or warmer hearts than with the amazing team .kulture 💝

Thank you to my newly adopted 2nd home .e1 and all the wonderful teachers for an epic year of cali ❤️

As a dermatologist specialising in hair loss, I'm always on the lookout for innovative treatments.

A recent 2023 study has shown some impressive results for both male and female pattern hair loss.

But what exactly are polynucleotides, and how do they work?

Swipe through to find out! 👉

As always, I approach new treatments with cautious optimism.

While the results are promising, we need more long-term data to fully understand the safety and efficacy.

As your derm, I'm particularly interested in the potential for perifollicular scarring over time.

What are your thoughts on this treatment, have you tried it before?

Research on pumpkin seed oil (PSO) supplements for male pattern hair loss has yielded some intriguing results.🧐

Key findings explored in this post:

📊 40% increase in hair count after 6 months
🧪PSO's potential mechanism in inhibiting DHT production
👨‍🦲 Significant patient with minimal side effects
While these results are promising, it's crucial to approach new treatments with informed caution.

While more research is needed, PSO shows promise as a natural or adjunctive option for those dealing with male pattern baldness.
