This week I had proper boxing training with Elliott Matthews - professional boxer and 1:1 boxing coach.
Not “boxercise in a nice air-conditioned studio” boxing.
Proper boxing.�In a garage.�Sweaty.�Slightly terrifying.�Brilliant. 😆
And yes, I did have that voice in my head saying:
“What if I look stupid?”�“What if I can’t do it?”�“What if I’m not strong enough?”
But I did it anyway.
And do you know what?
It reminded me that our bodies are still capable of getting stronger, fitter, sharper and more powerful - even through menopause and beyond.
Boxing is brilliant for strength, impact, bones, coordination, brain fog, stress relief and fat burning.
But this isn’t really about boxing.
It’s about not letting your body plateau for too long.
Build slowly.�Progress gently.�But keep moving forward.
At 54, I’m doing things I never did in my 20s or 30s - headstands, trapeze, boxing.
So please don’t buy into the idea that ageing means fading into the background wearing beige elasticated trousers.
Not on my watch. 😜
We can power up as we get older.
Safely. Sensibly. Slowly.
But power up all the same. 💪
