Making time for YOU is essential in maintaining a healthy balance in this age of pressure and stress.

The Hairy Bear 🐻 Barbershops, has a culture of rejuvenation, not only to make men look and feel better physically, but also to work on a deeper level to improve your self esteem, mental health and overall wellbeing.

Our barbershops basically double up as a free wellness centre……a place for you to to talk, off load, have a laugh and some banter. Providing free therapy, with the aim that everyone leaves not only looking smart, clean and fresh, but also invigorated and relaxed, ready for whatever life can throw at you.

With all the commitments of work, families and responsibilities it is often one of the first things that gets put on the back-burner. So don’t let this be YOU!!! Ensure you make time to visit our barbers regularly. It will not only keep you looking sharp and boost your confidence…… but provide you with that much needed balance for a better way life.

It saddens us to hear of the struggles families have had with finding somewhere suitable for their anxious children to get their haircut.

Here at The Hairy Bear, we are a family run Barbers and both the owners and many of our staff have autistic children and children with additional needs. We were very aware of the lack of facilities for children like ours and shocked how many families were asked to leave the barbershops when their child would become anxious and distressed!!! 😔 That’s why we trained our Barbers and welcome everyone to us with open arms 🤗

Boys, girls and adults are all welcome at all 3 of our Barbers:
Maidstone Hairy Bear - Barber Shop

Tovil Hairy Bear Barbershop

The Hairy Bear - Bearsted Barbers

However, we would suggest to go to our Maidstone or Tovil Barbershop on a Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday. This is because it is our quieter days so only 1 barber is in. However in Bearsted we do have a little back room the Barbers can use if there are other customers in the shop.

Tovil and Bearsted are walk in only and Maidstone is walk ins, but you can also book an appointment. In Maidstone you can book an additional needs initial consultation appointment online. This will mean on a Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday your child is the only person in the shop (with you and the barber), so no other noise, distractions, smells, sounds etc.

⭐️You can bring your child 7 days a week, but the shops do get busy at the weekends ⭐️

We suggest to parents you can bring your child into the shop for a visit prior to getting a haircut. This allows them some familiarity. Just pop in any time (no need to call or book), meet the Barbers and have a look around, grab a free drink and a play on the PlayStation. Our Maidstone barbershop has a large garden out the back, so you can take your child for a play on the slide and swings and help yourselves to a free drink out of the fridge.

Your child does not have to sit on the chair to have their Haircut, they do not have to wear a gown, they can stand up, sit on your lap, sit on the sofa and pay on our PlayStation, watch the tv, play music, bring their own toy or IPad etc…..our Barbers work with your child’s best interests at heart and don’t judge anyone.

All of our Barbershops have a TV 📺 and PlayStation, also offer free drinks (which you can help yourself to out of the fridge) and sweets and lollipops🍬

Hopefully with time, reassurance and familiarity your child will start to enjoy getting their haircut 💇‍♂️, build up trust in our amazing Barbers 💈 Making getting a haircut a less stressful and more enjoyable experience for you all ❤️
