Last week I finally cleared out loads of rubbish and got things organised in the salon. Now I’ve just got a few more bits to get rid of, touch up some paint, hang a mirror, and the redecoration project I started back in November 2021 will officially be finished. 😂😂

But hey… it’s not about how long it takes, it’s about having the resilience to see it through. 😍

I’ve seen so many businesses open with all the bells and whistles, fancy décor and big launches, only to close a couple of years later.

Building a business isn’t about having everything perfect from day one. It’s about starting with what you have and slowly building on it. I think our 16 years in business is proof of that. It takes resilience, determination, consistency, and having supportive people around you to help turn your dreams into reality.

I’m incredibly grateful for everything we’ve achieved so far… and I’ll be even more grateful when our new air conditioning unit arrives to cool down the top floor! I’m sure my clients will appreciate it too.

Hopefully that means no more meltdowns from a sweaty Mary with swollen feet. Honestly, meds, perimenopause and the fact it’s just so dam hot upstairs are not a great combination! 😂

A huge thank you to all of my lovely clients for being so understanding during this heatwave.

The unusually warm weather is causing a few challenges with treatments, meaning some appointments are taking a little longer than usual. I’ll always do my best to keep you updated if I’m running behind, but unfortunately this beautiful (and slightly unexpected!) weather is having an impact on things.

The wax is getting gloopy, gel polish is thinning, and I’m basically one big ball of sweat with swollen feet and legs! 🤦🏻‍♀️😂

We’re already working on ways to make things more comfortable and efficient for everyone, so please bear with us while we get everything sorted.

We are currently experiencing 30°C+ heat and while your nails may look cute, this weather is NOT gel nail friendly 😅

Heat, sun cream, swimming, sweating, oils and constant water exposure can all affect retention and may cause lifting earlier than usual. This is unfortunately something completely out of our control during extreme temperatures.

Please remember:
✨ Nails are jewels, not tools
✨ Sun cream and heat break products down faster
✨ Extra care is needed during holidays & heatwaves

As always, I’m grateful for all my lovely clients, but expect wear and tear during this weather you may need to move your appointments forward a week 💕

I have been with Charlotte and Andy 16 years tomorrow, since Urban Beauty first opened on 25th May 2010. The opportunities, trust, and belief they gave me completely changed my life, and I will always be grateful for that. It taught me how important it is to create a space where people feel safe to be themselves, supported to grow, and encouraged to chase their dreams.

Since taking over the floor after lockdown, there have definitely been challenges along the way, but one thing became very clear — the kind of energy and environment I wanted to build on the top floor. A place filled with positivity, support, ambition, kindness, and people who genuinely lift each other up.

Seeing the incredible team we have today doing exactly that is something I’m proud of every single day.

Everyday I feel grateful for the incredible humans who choose to be part of this journey. The team we have today brings such amazing energy, determination, passion, and care into the salon, and together they continue to make Urban what it is.

Energy is everything, and ours is full of love, support, strength, encouragement, and fierce women chasing their dreams together. We are all pretty hilarious and not too serious so a perfect match!
