25/26 season with the Dogs🐶

From stepping in to cover preseason to taking over as Lead Medical for the club.

I’ve loved every second (even if I am complaining about the weather), growing into the role and starting to make it my own.

Grateful for the opportunity to learn and progress. Looking forward to what 26/27 has to bring💙🤍

Weeks 12-20 post ACLR 2.0 summary…

Hard to write this one in the same format as the others if I’m honest. The aims of this block initially were to keep pushing towards my strength targets. Looking to strength test at the end of the block.

But, sometimes rehab doesn’t work the way you’d like it to. So, slightly differently..

The emotions:
This has been the most testing 8 weeks of any (p)rehab process I have been through so far. It’s the first time I’ve had to go backwards to make sure that in the future I can go forwards again.

That’s really really hard. Hard to accept and hard to go through.

The facts:
-My knee is still painful daily, when walking, seated, loading, pretty much anything
-My knee is always swollen, it has never been “dry”, it swells further under axial load, long time on feet or higher step counts
-I can’t comfortably sit into any extension; loaded, unloaded or passive
- I’ve deloaded from pretty much everything, except open chain strengthening, mobility and isometrics
- I haven’t been perfect-work, step counts, alcohol, rehab. Of course there are times I could’ve been better, sometimes life gets in the way

Hopefully an MRI and an appointment with my consultant over the next couple of weeks will answer some questions and get us back moving forwards.

As always just want to show the truth of the rehab process🫡

Great day yesterday down at Manchester United’s training ground. Looking around their Academy Facilities whilst some of our 17s and 18s players getting a taster of some of their hand eye coordination and training drills.

Incredible facilities. Friendly staff. Great opportunity!

Swipe to the end for a jump scare and a great example of why we’ll all be sticking to rugby👀

Enjoyed being able to give opportunities to future Sports Rehabbers this season at both Sale FC and Sale Sharks Academy

Not only helping their learning but pushing me to know more😌

Patiently waiting for my right leg to comeback🥲

In all seriousness, atrophy is something that happens to any area of the body after a significant injury, period of de loading or surgery.

Doing the right build ups of strengthening to help get you back where you were, or stronger, is key to the long term health of the area.
