When it comes to consultations communication is absolutely key, so many times and I have seen over the years when there has been a lack of communication, when guests have become unhappy about their results because of lack of communication due to rushing or lack of understanding. I always take note, of how my guests lifestyles are to incorporate this with their haircuts and colours, very much like I have work exactly with briefs on photo shoots and collaborations, with photographers and stylists so that everybody is singing off the hymn sheet. Any lack of communication and the whole thing thing goes completely wrong. This is also an element of respect. It is imperative, that the consultation is clear, and understood by both the stylist and the guest. Also sometimes the guest, may have an idea that isn’t entirely right for them, so I always dig deep and find exactly what they are wearing clothing wise if they are going, how they are wearing their make-up and if they are not entirely sure we come to the conclusion between us to make sure everything is bang on. This gains trust, and trust is everything. This is one reason I have over 25 years long lasting loyal client reputation. It’s not just about amazing hairdressing and makeup artistry, it’s about an experience, and as been said before, you are being trusted with so many things, not your guests hair, but often very personal information. Always give time. This concept of time is money, I hear all too often. I understand this to a certain degree, however greed can take over. For me quality, versus quantity and trust is key. If time is money, and you are working like a dog, raise your prices slightly to give your guests the time they deserve. They will thank you for it ❤️
