Brilliant resource 👏
How this is just it…

Today the North Manchester Menopause Peer Support Group Champions met with the ladies from Across Ummah for a conversation about menopause, and what stood out most was how much we have in common.
Different backgrounds, different communities, but the same conversations:
From symptoms and sleep struggles, to HRT, self-care, and finding ways to support ourselves day to day.
It was a reminder that menopause doesn’t see colour, culture, or background. When we talk openly, we realise we’re all navigating the same shifts, and we’re stronger when we share that space together.
Grateful for the honesty, the laughter, and the connection today. This is what community support looks like.

Tonight’s chat: Tinnitus & itchy ears 👂✨
Brilliant session delivered by Kelly Henderson, Audiologist. She gave us the full picture — and yep, once again it’s our hormones playing silly sods with us.
Why it happens in peri/menopause:
Estrogen drops can affect the inner ear, blood flow, and even the wax your ears make. Add in histamine spikes, dry skin, and stress and suddenly your ears are ringing, itching, or both.
Kelly’s guidance to reduce the irritation:
1. Noise: White noise/fan at night, low-volume music, avoid silence. The brain hates silence when tinnitus hits.
2. Itching: Don’t put anything in your ear canal. Olive oil drops 1-2x week can help if it’s dry. If it’s allergy-based, antihistamine might help speak to your pharmacist.
3. Hydration + omega-3s : Dryness starts inside. Water + oily fish/flaxseed can help skin and ear canals.
4. Stress: Cortisol turns the volume up on tinnitus. Breathing, walks, magnesium, boring but true.
5. Get it checked: New tinnitus or sudden hearing changes? Audiologist first. Rule out anything else.
Biggest takeaway? You’re not imagining it, and you’re not alone. Hormones really can mess with your ears.
Huge thanks to Kelly for breaking it down so clearly 💜
Anyone else dealing with this? Drop a 🙋♀️ below. Let’s stop suffering in silence — literally.

We’ve been a bit quiet on here, not because nothing’s happening, but because loads is 💜
We’ve been busy behind the scenes making connections for some exciting new projects… more on those soon!
But don’t worry, our regular meet-ups are still going strong and you’re very welcome to join us
We’re also organising our next Menopause Champions Course 🎓
If your workplace, community group, or just you would like to know more about getting a spot, drop us a DM or email. We’ll help you support others through menopause with confidence.
Thanks for sticking with us while we’ve been head-down on new stuff. Back to normal posting now!
