𝑨𝒓𝒆 𝒉𝒂𝒊𝒓 𝒆𝒙𝒕𝒆𝒏𝒔𝒊𝒐𝒏𝒔 𝒅𝒂𝒎𝒂𝒈𝒊𝒏𝒈?

This is Leah’s journey with me, the picture on the left is her natural hair when she came to me from another hair extensionist 12 months ago, to today, the picture on the right is where her natural hair is with me today.

Maintenance of your hair extensions is SO important to the health of your natural hair. Living in a hot country like Spain also means extra caution as we fight against harsh conditions such as hard water and heat damage.

I always give all my clients a full aftercare guide on extension care however here’s 5 tips to keep your natural hair healthy whilst growing with your extensions.

1. Always, always, always keeps to your maintenance appointments and have the extensions removed / moved up by a professional. (Note: your friend that takes them out could be causing you damage or the extensions damage)

2. Get regular trims on your natural hair. It’s easy to forget what your natural hair looks like if you’re constantly moving up your extensions. Every other move up take them out completely and get a little trim. (Remember not blunt so your extensions still blend)

3. Have a little break. If you have a week or 2 when you can remove them put on a nice treatment and reinstall them after do it. (A lot of my clients do this in July or August when they know they will be in the pool a lot and hair tied up)

4. Cut back on the bleach. You can use the extensions to give you extra highlights, balayage or ombre so if you can reduce the amount of bleach on your natural hair by using extensions do it.

5. Use the correct brush. Make sure you have the correct brush for your extension type for example nano bonds you will need a soft bristle brush designed for these type of extensions (tangle teasers are not soft bristle) the brush will go over the bonds with out pulling on your natural hair.

The L.A weave hair extension is one of the kindest forms of hair extensions available on the market, it is super natural looking and comfortable to wear.

Usually recommended for medium to think hair to create length and add a lot of volume however there are now many different types of wefts available to suit different hair types.

Many clients use a combination of the weave and nanos or tapes to get their desired look. The weave gives you volume and thickness with the nanos or tapes used at the front where the hair is finer.

Not one extension type suits all!
