Are your Botulinum Toxin treatments not lasting or have they stopped working altogether?

Let’s talk RESISTANCE!

Botulinum Toxin is a drug and our bodies can build antibodies to the drug which will neutralise the effects and can cause resistance. This could happen over years or in rare instances, months.

How do we avoid resistance?

1. I only administer the dosages needed.
2. I do not ‘top up’ where not needed.
3. I do not ‘top up’ after 3 weeks.
4. I do not retreat for at least 12 weeks from the original treatment.
5. I decline requests for treatments if muscle activity has not returned even if the 12 weeks has passed.

What can you do to avoid resistance?

1. ALWAYS be honest with your practitioner about when your last treatment was.
2. Try to avoid switching practitioners. Your practitioner will know your face, your dosages and your medical history.
3. Choose a practitioner based on their ability not price.

There maybe other reasons for not getting a perfect treatment outcome of course including:

* Unlicensed products.
* Over dilution of products.
* Expectations - Botulinum Toxin can only treat dynamic lines, not static lines.

1. Skin Necrosis (death) - permanent skin damage caused by dermal filler blocking a blood vessel.

2. Blindness - permanent visual disturbances caused by dermal filler injected into a blood vessel that travels and gets lodged behind the eye.

3. Vascular Occlusion - pending necrosis or skin death at a stage where it could be reversed.

Yes! These are all possible complications of dermal filler injections.

I follow and am trained to treat and recognise these types of serious complications.
