Daves the Gentlemans Barbers Morpeth

So guys ,
It’s a funny old world
To day marks a monumental day in my life

50 years ago to the very day
I started my barbering career
Aye
50 years-ago

Two life times in one ,

So my barbering life started getting the bus from malbough crescent bus station
West end of Newcastle to birtley
Where I worked for mr Ernest Harker ,
At his barbers on Durham Road
I worked with a guy called stu
My first meeting was on the door step of the shop , he offered me a cigarette which I stupidly took ,
That’s another story .
I was moved to shields road then Heaton Road
Where I worked with my mentor Alan Harker ,
Enjoyed my time their
I was asked to move to town
Where harkers had four shops
Low friar st
Morden st
Eldon square
Pink lane
Not long after this I moved to various other shops in town before
A lad I’d worked with at harkers opened a shop
On Stanhope st
The area I was born bred in , I took the job
After building up his business
Paul Wilson let me run the shop for him ,

I had bigger idears so on
Tuesday 9 th June 1986 I opened my first of 13 shops on two ball lonnen fenham ,

As they say the rest is history

So full circle today with a few tears of emotion,
I find my self
Still at the helm of my ship in morpeth ,
Incidently we have been in peth for 35 years now
Makeing my shop the oldest esstablished barber shop in Northumberland

Stuff of legends,

I’m now ha the oldest barber still treading the boards in morpeth ,
Still reinventing my self and my skill set , and knocking some cracking work out from my chair .

I’ve lived a wild and wonderfull life at times
achieved all my goals I set my self as an apprentice, probably lived longer than I have left ,
But enjoyed every moment of every thing I’ve done ,

And stand here today with a massive grin on my face ,
Feeling fit and loveing life
Knowing we are established in morpeth history

Just couple of points to remember
Our appointments have to run on time
Rule one please be on time or may be five minutes early
It’s no good turning up 20 mins late and exspecting ur appointment
Time slots are important to run on time .

Secondly we only take cash or bank transfers

Reason for this is I refuse to pay the card company commission, which would have to be transferred to our price of a haircut in some what way ,
So please make sure u have cash with you or ur able to do a direct bank transfer
Which I may add has to be for transaction £18-50 or above .

I hope I’ve not been too blunt but this is a busy store and ur custom is appreciated big style , so we need to run smoothly.
