Surgical menopause can feel very different to a natural transition and testosterone is a part of that conversation we don’t talk about enough.

When the ovaries are removed, oestrogen levels drop suddenly… but so does testosterone. And for some women, even good oestrogen replacement doesn’t fully support things like energy, concentration, or sexual desire.

Testosterone isn’t about “boosting” anything - it’s about replacing a hormone the ovaries once made. For the right women, it can help with low libido, persistent fatigue, brain fog and that sense of “I just don’t feel like myself.”

It’s not for everyone, but it can be an important part of recovery after surgical menopause.

If you’re still struggling despite well-optimised oestrogen, it’s absolutely reasonable to talk to your GP or menopause specialist about whether testosterone could play a role in your treatment plan ❤️

It’s brilliant to see menopause finally being included in NHS health checks - this kind of recognition has been a long time coming.

Asking women about their symptoms is an important first step, but real progress depends on what happens next. Clinicians need the confidence, training, and time to support women properly - not just identify that there’s a problem.

Awareness is growing, and that’s something to celebrate. Now the challenge is making sure that awareness turns into action and access for every woman who needs it.

❤️ Bone Health and Menopause ❤️
I learned first-hand what it means to feel your body break.
A sledging accident left me with a spinal fracture in my 20s and it changed how I see strength, recovery, and health forever.
That experience sits quietly behind every conversation I have with women about menopause. Bone health isn't something any of us can afford to take for granted.
It's invisible - until it's not.
After menopause, the risk of bone loss rises sharply. But here's the part that matters: we can protect our bones. With the right movement, nutrition, hormones, and awareness, it's absolutely possible to stay strong for decades to come.
If this topic hits close to home, I see you.
And if you haven't thought much about your bones before - maybe this is the moment to start.

It can be especially hard when your menopause comes much younger than you expected. Premature Ovarian Insufficiency (POI) is when the ovaries stop working properly before the age of 40 - no longer releasing eggs or producing adequate levels of estrogen and progesterone. How well the ovaries work can fluctuate over time and some women continue having occasional periods or can even still fall pregnant. POI can also be caused by medical treatments such as pelvic surgery or cancer therapies.

Daisy Network are a fantastic charity offering support and information for women with POI and their loved ones

When you’re on HRT, it’s the balance of oestrogen and progesterone that keeps the womb lining safe. Oestrogen on its own can thicken the lining, so progesterone is needed to counteract this.

If your oestrogen dose changes, the progesterone dose may also need to be adjusted. That’s why it’s important not to alter your HRT dose on your own - always speak to your GP or menopause specialist so your treatment can be safely tailored.

Many women still feel unable to talk openly about menopause at work.

Workplace support for menopause is being taken more seriously in the UK. A new review has found that menopause causes the economy significant losses each year through sickness absence, and women leaving or reducing work.

It doesn't have to be this way.

If your workplace is struggling, or you want help advocating for change, we can support you (or your employer) to put a plan in place.
