Kadoma man in court over US$3 million fraud

HARARE, Jul 9 (NewsDay Live)- Kadoma man Never Jofris appeared at the Harare Magistrates Court this Thursday on fraud and purjury charges after he allegedly submitted a fake tax clearance form, alias CR14 form, and opposing affidavit to the High Court, prejudicing the State and businessman Believe Guta of US$3 million.

Jofris was remanded out of custody on US$300 bail by magistrate Francis Mapfumo.

The complainant in the matter was the State represented by Detective Sergeant Karize of CID Suspects Harare.

The informant, Balwearie Holdings (Private) Limited registered under company number 1898/20, was represented by one of its directors Believe Guta.

Jofris is organising manager at Kukura Mining (Private) Limited.

It is the State's case that sometime in May 2020 in a matter heardd at the High Court under case number HC 2529/20 , Jofris with intent to mislead the court , allegedly submitted a fake CR14 form and opposing affidavit knowingly that the two documents did not truthfully reflect the facts.

The High Court was supposed to determine the actual owner of a piece of land in Kadoma, measuring 97,0653 hectares registered under title deed number 4110 92.

The alleged false CR14 form and opposing affidavit will be produced in court alongside other evidence held by the State.

As a result of Jofris' actions, Guta's company suffered a potential prejudice amounting to US$3 000 000, while the State suffered prejudice to the proper administration of justice.
