Bursitis happens when a bursa becomes irritated and swells. The most common causes of bursitis are overuse and putting too much pressure on a bursa. The pain from an inflamed bursa may develop suddenly or build up over time........
Symptoms
Symptoms of bursitis may make the affected joint:

○Hurt more when moving or when someone presses on it.
○Look swollen and red.

We use ultra sound during some of our sports therapy treatment, here is some Q&A on how it is used & its benefits.

*What does therapeutic ultrasound do in physical therapy?
Ultrasound is a physical therapy modality which is used to promote healing, decrease pain and swelling, and to improve soft tissue function. Ultrasound therapy uses sound waves to produce the desired effects in bodily tissue.
*How does ultrasound help injuries?
Ultrasound is not advised to use immediately after injury. An ultrasound can stimulate the production of more collagen- a primary protein component in soft tissue like tendons and ligaments. Ultrasound may accelerate the tissue self-healing process. It can extend a mature collagen to heal fibrous scar tissue damage
*How does ultrasound help in physical therapy?
Ultrasound is often used to provide deep heating to soft tissue structures in the body. Deep heating tendons, muscles or ligaments increases circulation to those tissues, which is thought to help the healing process. Increasing tissue temperature with ultrasound is also used to help decrease pain.
