Let’s make Northwich look its best, together

When a long time Stalker + a vivid-loving stylist get together… you just know it’s going to be a moment!

Edwin and his Stalker have been on quite the hair journey over the years, visiting different lengths, tones, eras, and this time they’ve landed firmly in soft vivid territory, and we are obsessed!

After a proper consultation where the ideas started bouncing and suddenly it all clicked in, the plan was set! A balayage throughout the mid-lengths + ends to create that seamless, diffused base… paired with foiliage through the front hairline to really dial up that face-framing pop.

It’s that balance of soft + striking that makes this colour just hit!

Pre-lightening was done using Davines to keep the integrity of the hair in check, because vivid is nothing without a clean, healthy canvas, and then Edwin went in with his custom Manic Panic blend, creating this pinky-purple pastel melt that shifts beautifully in the light.

Gossy, playful, hello summer!

Cut-wise, Edwin kept everything working with the colour placement, adding a cheekbone-grazing swept layer for versatility.

Wear it forward for that soft, face-framing feel, or tuck it back when you want something cleaner. Two moods, one cut. We like options.

Maintenance wise, this bit matters: We recommend the Davines MINU range to help protect and prolong that colour vibrancy, keeping everything fresh, glossy and alive between visits.

If you’ve been flirting with a colour change…
Soft vivid is very having a moment right now.

Get yourself booked in for a complimentary 10/15minute hair chat with one of our Quirkers to see what we can create with you!

More great choices!

Sam Fender, Olivia Dean - Rein Me In

North Shields rocker, Samuel Thomas Fender has released 3 albums to date, his debut was 2019's 'Hypersonic Missiles' and hes latest record was 2025's 'People Watching'. The chosen track comes from the deluxe edition of his third album. The track is about self sabotage in romantic relationships, and about rejecting those who get too close. The album and song received praise from music critics. The song originally debuted at number 86 on the UK charts. After 36 weeks on the chart it finally hit the UK number one spot where it stayed for a total of 8 non-consecutive weeks. Nice!

Elbow - One Day Like This

These guys are an English rock band that formed in Bury, a suburb of Greater Manchester. They have released a total of 10 records to date. Their debut album was released in 2001 entitled 'Asleep in the Back' and their last album was 2024's 'Audio Vertigo'. The band have won many awards including the Mercury Music Prize for the album 'The Seldom Seen Kid' in which lead singer Guy Garvey said was 'The best thing that's ever happened to us' in 2008. Singles include the chosen track and 'Grounds for Divorce'. The album garnered almost unanimous praise, in fact both singles we mentioned won Ivor Novello awards.

The Wurzels - The Comine Harvester (Brand New Key)

These lads are a scrumpy and western band... what is scrumpy and western, well... it's a type of west country music, a bit folky, a bit humerous. As you can tell by the chosen songs title, which was a UK number one hit, you know it isn't going to be particularly serious. The band also scored a top 5 UK hit with 'I Am a Cider Drinker'. The band have released 11 albums, the bands main output was in the 1970's, the band continued to perform shows and tour but their album releases were significantly less, releasing only one album in the 1980's and a few more since the early 00's.

The Rolling Stones - Paint It Black

The song originated from some melodies guitarist Brian Jones was playing on the sitar. All the band members contributed to the writing and arrangement, but the song itself is credited only to Jagger and Richards. The song was the bands third number one in the UK and was also another massive hit in the US. It was written at a time when the rivalry between the band and The Beatles was at an all time high, this and other songs was seen as a response to the mounting sophistication of Lennon and McCartney's songwriting as the Stones were seen as a rougher alternative to the Beatles.

Creed - One Last Breath

The band formed in Florida in 1994, considered as alt rock or post grunge, the band released four albums starting with 1997's 'My Own Prison' and their last record was 2009's 'Full Circle'. The band have sold over 53 million records world wide and were the ninth best selling musical act of the 2000's. The band have broke up a couple if times, their first disbanding happened in 2004 due to 3 out of 4 of the band members feeling tension with lead singer Scott Stapp, the truth was, Stapp was battling drug addiction. They got back together for a tour and new album in 2009, work began on another album but was soon abandoned. Guitarist Mark Tremonti stated in an interview that he and Stapp were not close friends and did not interact at all on their 2012 tour. They got back together in 2023 and all seems... ok?

Cameron Whitcomb - Gasoline & Matches

This youngster is 23, he is a Candian singer songwriter. He was a competitor on the TV show, American Idol and is currently signed to Atlantic Records. An executive of American Idol found a video of him performing and personally reached out to him to audition for the show, he did and was pretty successful before being eliminated after reaching the top 20. He pursued a career more seriously after his exit from the show. He has stated in an interview that he has battled addiction since age 12 and his song 'Quitter' is inspired by his addiction and recovery. He has released one studio album to date which was 2025's 'The Hard Way'.

Thank you again for these!

Stalkers!
We’re so excited for this week’s HQ Bean Bags Session...

📅 Sunday 3rd May (THIS SUNDAY!)

So… what is Bean Bags?
It’s our little way of bringing people together whilst doing something good for our town - a relaxed, feel-good community litter pick with a social twist. 🌿 paws + little ones welcome!

We start right here at HQ with a coffee/tea/hot choccy and a catch-up, then head out together for a local litter pick. Simple, wholesome, calm.

Yes… this week’s vibe is “Don’t Stop ‘Til You Get Enough” - but make it litter picking.
Because there is something weirdly satisfying about filling that bag to the brim 👀♻️

The plan for the day:
🕛 12pm – 12:30pm: Free coffee + a friendly chin-wag at HQ

(or a calm start and a drink for those who hate small talk!)

🕧 12:30pm – 1:30pm: Local litter pick around Northwich

We’ll provide litter pickers + bags, but we only have x15 pickers available, so spaces are limited!

👉 If you’d like to join us, please:
✔️ Message/call us so we can add your name to our list (with a mobile number) just in case we need to update anything on the day (weather, changes, or if someone wanders off on a rogue crisp packet mission…)

Got your own litter picker? Bring it along! Just let us know so we can plan numbers before we head out.

Weather-wise: It’s currently looking like a mild one — around 15°C with cloud cover and moderate UV ☁️

✔️ Light layers are your best friend

✔️ Comfy shoes you don’t mind getting a bit grubby

✔️ A bit of SPF wouldn’t go amiss (UV can still catch you out!)

✔️ Maybe a light jacket… just in case British weather does its thing

Whether you come solo or with a friend, it’s all about community, connection, and keeping Northwich looking its best.

Pop the date in your diary - we can’t wait to do it all again!

Rae + Tom 🖤

On the 11th of April, alongside Alexander Hulme, we had the absolute pleasure of welcoming Jessica Dives Music into our space, and with her she brought something pretty special!

If you were here, you may have heard her speak about a project that’s far bigger than music alone..The wind phone project!

A disconnected phone line.
A quiet space.
A place to speak to someone you’ve lost.

Jessica is currently raising funds to build Liverpool’s very first community Wind Phone, set to live within Calderstones Park, somewhere anyone can go to sit, reflect, and say the things that never quite found their way out.

It’s simple. It’s powerful. It’s deeply human.
And it all ties back to storytelling, because grief, connection, memort, they’re things we all carry, whether we talk about them or not.

Jessica has recently released her latest single 'Wind Phone’ as a part of this journey, a piece born from the same idea, now helping bring the physical space to life.

If this resonates with you, we’d really encourage you to have a little look, take a little listen, or maybe do a little share on your social media.

Sometimes the quietest ideas are the ones that matter most.

More contemporary this time, oldest song choice is from the 1990's... interesting...

Coldplay - Clocks

Formed in 1997, The Coldplay have released 10 albums to date, beginning with 2000's 'Parachutes', their tenth record was released back in 2024 entitled 'Moon Music'. Coldplay are musically a quartet, but they actually include their manager, Phil Harvey as a fill time member of the band. Their music began as indie pop rock, but middle career albums experimented with genres like electronica, R&B and ambient sounds. Their Music of the Spheres world tour became the 2nd highest grossing tour at the time and it grossed over $1 billion. They have managed to sell a massive 160 million records world wide which makes them one of the biggest selling acts of all time!

The Cranberries - Zombie

These guys are one of the best selling alternative bands of the 1990's, they have sold over 50 million records, they have won an Ivor Nolvello, a Juno Award, an MTV award as well as nominations for Brits and Grammy's! The band had international fame with the singles 'Dreams' and 'Linger' which were off their debut record. Their second record was also huge which is where chosen track comes from. Tragically lead singer, Dolores O'Riordan passed away, their final album was released posthumously and will be their final record.

Hozier - Too Sweet

This is a song by Irish singer songwriter Hozier! Released in 2024 and was a UK number one hit! It was the 5th best selling song in the UK in 2024. The track was lifted from his EP 'Uneard'. The material comes from the sessions for his third album 'Unreal, Unearth'. The songs were left off the album for various reasons but he felt the themes of the album, so released an EP with a number one hit single on it! Hozier has released 3 albums so far and is currently hard at work on his follow up!

Wolf Alice - The Sofa

These English rockers formed in London in 2010 as an acoustic duo and they got their name from a short story by Angela Carter and. After gigging as a duo for a while, they decided to add more musicians to open up their sound, they added Joel Amey on drums and Theo Ellis on bass. The band released 'Leaving You' on Sound Cloud as a free download which gained airplay on BBC Radio 1. The finally announced the release of their debut album which became 2015's 'My Love Is Cool'. The band have released 4 more records since then including the critically acclaimed 'Blue Weekend'.

Thanks again for the choices, as ever a good solid eclectic mix!

Growing out a short haircut is… a journey!! ...And if you’ve got natural texture? It can very quickly tip from cool, to "what the hell is this doing!?"

But THIS is how you do it properly.

Our boss man Tom, and his long-time Stalker have built that level of trust where you can say:
“let’s grow it… but let’s not be bored along the journey"

So instead of just letting it soften out and lose its edge along the way, Tom went in with some intentional hairline detailing, keeping the perimeter textured, broken, and playful, especially through the nape.

The thinking was to hold onto length throughout the crown + upper layers so we’ve got something to build a new shape from, carve into the hairline and shorter layers to remove that heavy, in-between feeling, and work with the natural curl pattern so it flicks, bends, and moves, rather than sitting flat or bulky anywhere.

The result is this modern bixie s**g energy…
Still cropped, still edgy… but with a softness that’s growing everywhere with intention, rather than it leading you down a dead end.

The show stopper: all that little curl movement sitting into the neckline is doing so much without taking any more length away 🤌

This is your reminder that growing your hair out doesn’t have to mean losing your personality along the way.

It just needs the right kind of thinking behind it 🖤

You may have spotted these little gems in our retail area…

Our plant based combs are made from cellulose acetate — a plant-based material used in premium hair tools 🌿(aka not your standard plastic)

Why that matters:
- Smoother than plastic, meaning no snagging, and less static charge
– More hygienic than wood as it won’t absorb oils or products (easy to clean).
– Gentler than metal, meaning no harsh dragging on the hair shaft
– Stronger + more flexible, so no snapping in two mid-style!

This results in less frizz, better definition in your style, and healthier looking hair!

Our go-to uses for this comb are:
– Dressing out heat curls once cooled for a soft, luxe finish
– Distributing product evenly throughout natural curls + waves!

This is how these plant based combs compare to other materials:

Plastic: Is cheaper, but can be rougher + create static
Wood: Is more porous, so in turn can absorb product/oils and become less hygienic over time
Metal: Is very firm, which can feel harsh and also drag on the hair shaft (damaging).

These combs are a steal at £6 each, and come in a range of colourways 😍

They’ve been flying out, so be quick to grab yours!

Sometimes balayage isn’t about going brighter… it’s about placing light better!

This one’s all about intentional placement by our Tasha!

Working with thicker slices lower down, taking them right to the root where she could, then gradually refining to finer, softer pieces as she worked up towards the top of the head.

Around the face, Tash switched it up with chunkier backcombed slices to really make that face frame pop without it feeling stripey or harsh.

The end result is that perfect in-between, not too blended, not too bold, just soft structure with brightness that actually holds its own!

Toned and treated using Davines, keeping everything glossy, creamy, and expensive-looking, as always!

This was styled by Bobbi using one of our Express Finish services - our quicker, lower, cost styling option which is designed to sit alongside your colour service.

Think effortless, undone, mermaid texture… without the full blowdry appointment time!
Available to book with Bobbi or Mischa when you’re in for colour!

If you’re wanting brightness but with a bit more presence and placement with intention, this might just be your sign 👀

Sometimes… less light = more impact

Aimee (our Signature Stylist) worked her magic on her regular Stalker here, who was feeling the pressure of high-maintenance blonde life.

After a thorough chat, they decided to skip adding more lightness this time, and instead reintroduce depth through a lowlight service.

Why? Because breaking up that solid blonde gives you a softer, more natural dimension, a much easier grow-out, and a blonde that feels more expensive and lived-in.

Aimee carefully placed lowlights through the hair to rebalance the overall look, then glazed everything with a cooling toner service to soften down that warmth that had built up between visits.

This resulted in a creamy, dimensional blonde with movement, depth, and ultra shine!

Aimee then finished with a fresh trim to strengthen the ends, refine the shape, and added a soft wave to show off all that tonal contrast.

To keep this kind of blonde feeling its best, we’re all about balance:
🧴 Davines Nou Nou Shampoo (£24)
🧴 Davines Momo Conditioner (£26)

Protein + moisture = happy, glossy hair. Always!
