Sunscreen in a heatwave isn’t optional - and yet this is the time most people get it wrong.
I see it every summer in clinic: skin that’s dehydrated, pigmentation that’s flared, and redness that’s suddenly much worse. More often than not, it comes down to SPF habits, not a lack of products.
So here’s what I want you to know.
SPF. Always. Not because it’s summer, but because UV doesn’t take a day off - and in this heat, your skin has zero spare capacity to deal with additional damage.
It needs to be a broad spectrum one that covers you for UVA & UVB and you need to apply it liberally! Think press in and coat the skin so it sits like a protective coat.
Apply it last, after your moisturiser, before makeup. Not mixed in. Not underneath three other layers. On its own, so it can form an even film across the skin. That’s what actually protects you.
And reapply every 2-4 hours if you’re outside. Sweat, heat, touching your face - all of it breaks down your coverage. A sun stick over makeup means no excuses.
The best anti-ageing investment you will ever make isn’t a serum. It’s consistent, proper SPF use, every single day.
Quite frankly in this heat seek the shade, limit time outside and if you have to be outdoors for a period of time wear a big hat, sunglasses and carry water with you ☀️💦

Consistency over everything.
I have clients who have used the same products, from the same brand, for years. Their skin is exceptional. Not because the products are magic - because consistency lets your skin adapt, strengthen and respond. Chopping and changing is one of the biggest mistakes I see.

I think one of the biggest misconceptions around ageing skin is that you need more products, heavier creams or constant treatments to keep your skin looking healthy.
