✨ Lighting changes EVERYTHING when it comes to hair colour ✨

These two photos were taken just 2 minutes apart - same hair, same colour, different light.

• First image: sitting in the chair, flooded with natural window light and no overhead lighting.
• Second image: standing closer to the window on a dull winter’s day. Because my studio is bijou, I’m blocking some of that light - and you can see how the tone shifts.

The true tone, as my eye sees it in real life, is the image where the client is further away with more natural light falling onto the hair 🤍

A little reminder when you’re checking your colour anywhere:
💡 All artificial lighting casts a hue
• Strip lighting → blue (can flatten colour)
• Warm bulbs → yellow (can make hair look more brassy)
• LED → depends on temperature; daylight LEDs are closest to natural light but can look a little clinical.

So whether you’re at home, in the office, or in the salon - where you stand and what lighting you’re under matters. Always check your colour next to a window whenever possible.
