I've just discovered from Yorkshire Teas page that the teapot in this picture is an Edward VII Coronation teapot and is on display at Beatrix Potter's home, now run by The National Trust. This beautifully framed picture from Beatrix Potter's story 'The Tale of the Pie and the Patty-Pan' is for sale via this page or from Hopkinson Vintage, Antique and Arts Centre, Nottingham.

Beatrix Potter’s illustration from ‘The Tale of the Pie and the Patty-Pan’ in beautiful decorative gilt frame available from Adore Chic Alors at Hopkinson Vintage, Antique and Arts Centre, or by contacting this page.
The Tale of the Pie and the Patty-Pan (originally, The Pie and the Patty-Pan) is a children's book written and illustrated by Beatrix Potter, and published by Frederick Warne & Co in October 1905.
It tells of a cat called Ribby and a tea party she holds for a dog called Duchess. The themes are etiquette and social relations in a small town.
In this illustration Potter's own three-door oven, her hearthrug, her indoor plants, her coronation teapot, and her water pump are minutely detailed with more colour than in other productions and shows Ribby the cat and Duchess the dog at their tea party.
The Pie and the Patty-Pan was published in October 1905 in a large format, priced at one shilling.
Potter declared the tale her next favourite to The Tailor of Gloucester.
Potter's books have been translated into nearly thirty languages including Greek and Russian and have become a traditional part of childhood in both English-speaking lands and those in which the books have been translated.

I just wanted to say a huge heartfelt thank you to all the new (and previous) likers to my page. I can't believe it! At Christmas I was on the verge of 200 and now I'm on the verge of 300 ... how did that happen?!
Can I just remind all of you that I sell vintage, primarily French and British garments, jewellery, accessories, household items and furniture through Hopkinson Vintage, Antique and Arts Centre in Nottingham, UK (next to the railway station and near the M1 motorway). I like to encourage proper shopping in local high streets and especially appreciate those of you who regularly shop at Hopkinson.
Of course for the rest of you anything you see pictures of that I have posted for sale ... always please do contact the page if you're interested in buying the item. Once again THANK YOU ... and I wonder who will be my 300th liker?!

FRANÇOISE 01/04/2013

Françoise was a French women's journal during WWII early 1940s. I have discovered several issues from 1942-43 and offer this ongoing album as a 70th anniversary retrospective. I only had a short time with the journals and currently my research isn't as complete as I'd like it to be. If anyone can tell me anything at all about Françoise please do post here! x
