Skill No.9: Career-boosting enhancements

Additional training above and beyond your NVQ training will include attending shows and exhibitions and entering photographic competitions. This will extend to product training days to develop knowledge and retail skills. Courses are also attended outside the Academy, including at the Wella Studios in Manchester and specific courses on specialist areas of training which are particularly important in the third year.

Applying maths and English in the workplace is a really useful part of being an apprentice and we have a qualified school teacher on board to assist trainees who may need additional help with basic numeracy and literacy skills.

This will help you feel more confident to speak and listen in client consultations, work out ratios and percentages for colour formulations and learn how to problem solve on the spot.
