Specialist Scar Massage - for scars, adhesions and fibrosi
Specialised non-invasive soft tissue treatment for scars and adhesions, designed to support and boost recovery. Scar massage is a method used to help remodel scar tissue that has developed after an injury. It is a treatment used after surgery, fracture, or burn. Scar tissue massage is also known as scar mobilisation or scar tissue mobilisation, Following your consultation and assessment your treatment will be tailored to focus on areas of tightness and tension around your scar and the underlying fascia, muscles and any fibrotic tissue.
Why Have Scar Massage?
Scar massage is considered an effective way to decrease scar tissue build up and help make scars less noticeable. Pain and discomfort are not always felt at the source of the problem. scar massage is a holistic approach combining understanding of any discomfort or pain, with assessing movement and mobility across the body as well as directly around the scar.

June – Scoliosis Awareness month
What is Scoliosis?
Scoliosis is a condition that causes the spine to abnormally curve sideways. Although many people have not heard of the condition it is surprisingly common, impacting infants, adolescents and adults of all races, classes, and all genders. Despite this, adolescents (of which a majority are female) and those over 60 are the most commonly diagnosed and should be especially vigilant.
According to the Scoliosis Research Society, approximately one out of every six children diagnosed with scoliosis will have a curve that requires active treatment, sometimes involving surgery. Early diagnosis is the key to taking important first steps to providing treatment that may prevent more serious problems. Today there are more non-surgical treatment options (such as bracing or exercise based therapy) than ever, but to have the best chance of success early detection is key.
Patients with scoliosis have an unnatural sideways spinal curvature, with rotation, and a minimum Cobb angle ( https://clear-institute.org/learning-about-scoliosis/cobb-angle/) measurement of 10 degrees.
Every case of scoliosis is unique and is classified based on important condition and patient variables: patient age, condition type (causation), condition severity, and curvature location.
While scoliosis can range greatly in severity and experienced symptoms, even in mild cases, the fact that it’s a progressive structural spinal condition means where it is at the time of diagnosis is not indicative of where it will stay, which is why early detection and proactive treatment are so important.
While early detection doesn't guarantee treatment success, it does increase its chances, and as a progressive condition, early detection, when responded to with proactive treatment, can help patients avoid the hardships of increasing condition severity and the need for more invasive forms of treatment in the future.
It’s far easier to treat a curvature while mild, before the body’s had time to adjust to its presence, and before a condition has progressed significantly, as spinal rigidity accompanies progression, making the spine less responsive to treatment.

Trevor Bamford MA at The Wellbeing Studio
Trevor Bamford is a caring and focused Hypnotherapist who works currently from The Newstead Centre and occasionally from The Wellbeing Centre.
His aim is to help people overcome issues and obstacles they have in their life that stop them enjoying the happiness and freedom that they really deserve. A quote from Trevor regarding his work:
"Sometimes things happen to people, usually something really small when they were little, fluffing lines in a school play, or someone saying something nasty about the way they look. Or perhaps they heard someone make a loud noise when a spider poked its head out. These things may have caused someone to develop a debilitating issue which they probably can't remember the origin of, which has held them back in one way or another all their life. My job is to find out what happened and to free the person from this so they live a happier , confident and fulfilled life!"
Working with people is something Trevor does successfully and he has many years of experience in that field. Prior to becoming a Hypnotherapist, Trevor was involved in the field of education and the private sector.
He is currently working towards attaining a PhD.
Trevor holds a distinction diploma in Clinical Hypnosis and Mind Coaching and a certificate as a Smoking Cessation Specialist.
Trevor also has a current enhanced DBS Certificate and professional insurance with Holistic Insurance Services.

Did You Know.....
That Aromatherapy started my journey many years ago into Complementary Therapies?
Aromatherapy is the use of natural pure essential oils, extracted from plants, roots, flowers, leaves or bark, and can have a powerful balancing and nurturing effect on the entire being.
Do be aware when looking for an aromatherapy massage. I have trained and qualified in Level 4 (Advanced), you will also see some that are Clinical Aromatherapists. Why am I sharing this with you?
I want to make you aware as people have to be trained and qualified to work with Essential Oils because of the reactions that can be caused by these oils. A thorough consultation of a client's health and wellbeing has to be done to make sure that the oils being used are not 'contraindicated' for use with clients who have conditions such as high blood pressure, low blood pressure, pregnant, migraines, epilepsy etc. Now there are oils that can be used to help support these clients and be of benefit to them.
I know I have been trained well to support my clients and a long time of experience of using these oils, but popularity of these Essential Oils have grown (which is good news) but safety of use is paramount!
Please make sure that your therapist has the right qualifications for providing this therapy. You will find my list of my qualifications here The Wellbeing Studio and continue to learn. I never stop, it is always ongoing to provide the best I can for my clients.

While we are having this wonderful hot weather, I thought I would share with you the benefits of a foot soak.
A foot soak is relaxing and can have many benefits.
Why Is a Foot Soak Beneficial?
A foot soak is more than just relaxing with your feet in warm or hot water. It’s what you add to the water that makes a foot soak beneficial. The two main ingredients used in a foot soak are Epsom salt.
What is Epsom salt? Epsom salt is a natural mix of magnesium and sulfate. Don’t be confused by its name, because Epsom salt is nothing like table salt.
How do I use Epsom salt in a foot soak? Dissolve a half-cup of Epsom salt into a tub or bowl of warm water. Soak your feet for 10 to 20 minutes once a week.
What are the health benefits of Epsom salt? Epsom salt can help soften your skin and leave it less prone to bacteria overgrowth. Other health benefits include:
Relieves stress and helps you feel relaxed
Eases pain and muscle cramps
Boosts nerve and muscle function
The Surprising Benefits of Soaking Feet in Hot Water Before Sleep
The feet are often considered one of the most important parts of the body because they are the final structure of the legs. The feet consist of many small bones that enable the body to perform complex activities flexibly. The feet work harmoniously with the rest of the body, allowing us to stand, do complex movements like running and jumping, and engage in sports.
There are over 20 acupuncture points on the feet, each playing a role in maintaining various activities and affecting overall health. The acupuncture points in the soles of the feet are directly connected to the brain, meaning that soaking the feet can improve sleep quality. Nowadays, traditional Chinese medicine uses foot massage to reduce headaches, treat bone and joint diseases, detoxify, etc…

Acupuncture for pain relief.
We are a fully licensed and qualified to carry out Acupuncture. It stimulates the sensory nerves under the skin and in the muscles.
How it Works
Western Medical Acupuncture:
Is based on a medical diagnosis and focuses on stimulating sensory nerves under the skin and in muscles. The stimulation triggers the body's natural production of pain-relieving substances like endorphins.
The Procedure
Fine, thin needles are inserted into specific acupuncture points on the skin.
The needles are typically left in place for a short period and may be manipulated manually or with small electrical currents (electroacupuncture).
The procedure is generally not painful; people often don't feel the needles being inserted, though they may experience a mild aching sensation.
Uses and Benefits
Acupuncture is used for various conditions, including:
Pain relief for conditions like headaches, migraines, and back pain.
Relief from nausea and vomiting.
Treatment of respiratory conditions such as hay fever.
Management of insomnia and menstrual cramps.
