6 months ago i travelled to japan & i’m only now realising just how much i needed to be there

it’s a trip that i think about daily, i just can’t get it out of my head

6 months ago i was a completely different person, full of anxiety, overwhelm & burn out!

over the past few months i’ve noticed myself moving differently, caring about the small details that never mattered to me before, slowing down completely and adding rituals into my daily routine

i feel more present than ever and it’s really given me my spark back✨✨✨

japan gave me a mindset shift that i wasn’t expecting, i can only really describe it as a little switch that has gone off in my lil ol brain & i can think clearly again, for the first time in years

when i’m asked about japan i always say it’s a place that you just have to experience, it’s a feeling you can’t describe, the slowness, respect, culture, the rituals

i’ve journaled a lot in my life but nothing has ever made more sense to me than when i was in the japanese mountains, I haven’t felt peace quite like it

when I say japan is a really special place I really mean it🥹☁️

i would love to know if you’ve ever been to japan & or if you’ve ever experienced something similar from visiting a new place?

burnout recovery really has a way of rewiring your brain☁️🧠✨😅

when I stepped back from everything last year, I realised recovery wasn’t just about resting more, It was about changing the way I spoke to myself bc boy was i in the trenches

I wanted to share the little phrases that slowly started shifting things for me

recently it really feels like a lil switch has gone off in that ol’ brain of mine & for the first time in years the pressure I was living under seems to be softening

one of my goals this year was to perfect my morning routine, something that sets me up for the day & welcomes in a little more slowness

it’s worth saying that not every day looks the same for me, i adjust my to-do list depending on my energy levels that morning & what i feel like doing (within reason, deadlines still exist🙃)

this year i’m finding my spark again & doing everything a little slower

i’m also finding the right balance between work & clients and honesty i’m loving the new routine I’ve started building☁️

one month of running my small business 💌

creating nail notes has transformed my mindset & is slowly bringing my spark back✨✨ it started from a really personal place & my own experience with burnout & watching it bring a little bit of joy to everyone who receives it, is honestly the best feeling🥹

if I really think about it, I never ever would have expected this to be my life

six years ago I left my job at Space NK & went self employed full time, the butterfly effect of that decision still blows my mind🥹

the past six years have taught me so much, they’ve been the most rewarding, yet the most challenging & I genuinely wouldn’t change a thing

there were times I couldn’t see a way out, times I questioned everything, but I’ve learned that what’s meant for me will always find me

& for the first time in six years, I feel a quiet sense of pride, not just for surviving some of the toughest months, but for actually chasing my dreams all those years ago

i’m so thankful to past me for being brave, these are the moments that live rent free in my mind ☁️
