How did to get into this profession?

I am fascinated by the biology of the body, I have a compulsive picking disorder condition called Dermatillomania, caring for others peoples feet is the best therapy that I’ve ever had and the only thing that has stopped me from picking.

I bet you see some sights?

Yes but no judgment here, every set of feet are unique and they all just need some TLC.

Have you ever refused to touch someone’s feet

No and I never would. The only thing that prevent me from carrying out my job in the safety of myself and the patient.

Would you like a cuppa?

In some homes, I especially if I’m treating the whole family, as a small break in between is healthy.

Have been to someone’s home and been scared?

No and as a lone worker on home visits, we are trained to do our du diligence and can assess danger before the door is opened. I have an army of people that know where I am at all times.

I bet you’ve got lovely feet?

Mmmm they’re not bad, however I did one of my two bunions removed, a hammer toe fused straight and I have flare ups of athletes foot, if I do a 12 hour day, which is often.

Have you ever been bitten by a dog in someone’s house?

No, I always do a pet check before hand and if there is a risk of a pet being too excited or protective patients are sensible enough to put them somewhere safe.

Why do you give away your time and offer free foot care?

I believe you should always give to your local community. Sometimes it’s groups or clubs. At the moment I am concentrating on individuals and have five active FREE patients.

I don’t know how you can stand the smell of feet?

Really, I actually love the smelly of cheesy feet.

Do you really enjoy your job?

When I’m caring for someone’s feet I’m in heaven. It’s like it’s Christmas Day over and over again.

Are you married?

Yes, 26 years.

If yes what does your husband do?

Can’t tell you that.

Do you have kids?
Nope …..

What aspects of the job are you not so keen on?

The paperwork.

How did you decide on your prices.

I looked at the market rate of others in the area, my overheads and on going continuous personal development ( training) I have to do. I charge a marked difference between home visits and clinic visits due to the convenience of bringing my service to you and that I can’t see as many patients due to the driving around.

Will you paint my nails?

Mmmmm not my remit but if there is time left in your appointment then I may ( if I am on schedule too)

Will you cut my fingernails?

Same as above, or this is an extra charge if asked if advance and the appointment is extended.

Do you like sitting down all day?

Not really but it’s part of the job.

Have you ever had fungal nail or a verruca?

As a child I had a verruca and as an adult one big toes had fungal nail.

Don’t you feel ill after breathing in nail dust all day?

No, but on some days I get a sore throat and am considering double masking.

Why is it so hard to get an appointment?

I have two jobs and split my time between both. I have patients that have been with for a while and book appointments 6-8 wks in advance. I also save certain slots for emergencies only.

If I cancel can I have a refund?

Yes a full refund can be given or you can keep the amount paid on credit if you have cancelled your appointment within 24 hours it more of the actual appointment.

This patient complained of a saw cracked toe. I just got to in time before the Epidermis was breached.

This patient had toenails that curved over the tip of the toe and deep into the the corners. They were happy to be pain free at last. A 6-8 week maintenance visit will keep them pain free.

What a lovely group of patients I met today. Heels that went from dry and cracked to baby soft.

A patient ask me to remove TWO corns I found ELEVEN!!!

And a patient that is on a journey to better foot health with some toes and feet I was so excited to see and did not disappoint. I could have done much more but we ran out of time.

Tomorrow it’s start all again.

I ABSOLUTELY LOVE MY JOB!!!

What a natter we had. This lovely patient had their nails trimmed and thinned. They had a large deep callus removed from the bottom of the foot followed by a mini foot massage.

They booked again and left a lovely review.

At last a coupe of pairs of feet to really get my teeth into ( metaphorically speaking) although the odd clipping does some how end up down my top and in my hair, I do try not to get any of them in my mouth. Even for me that is taking it too far.

Pictured below some lovely long nails transformed and a corker of a Callus on the apex of a big toe. The smiles at the end worth priceless.

The one of the little toe or as we say 5th digit was particularly transformative. The patient described it herself as a budgies claw.

I did a 12 hour day in the clinic yesterday and on the road today doing home visits. Only two patients left for today and boy am I going to sleep tonight .
