This isn’t my usual post, but I really wanted to highlight this to people. Especially now that it’s summertime 😎 . Not long ago I had a cancer scare when a few of my moles changed. (Hence being quiet on Instagram, which doesn’t help with growing my business 😅) Thankfully the results from those biopsies were clear. But there was a few things that I didn’t realise that I needed to look out for. So I wanted to highlight the changes here, as it’s not always obvious. . Look for moles or growths that are asymmetrical, have an irregular border, shows changes in colour, have a diameter larger than the size of a pencil rubber, that gets flakey or have changed in size or thickness. . Look for the ‘ugly duckling’ on your skin. An ugly duckling is any mole that doesn’t look like the rest of the moles on your body. . Melanoma frequently does not always have the same distinctive dark colouration. Instead, it may appear as a pink, yellowish, or even white bump or wart-like lesion. . If you notice one or more of these signs, go get it checked out. It’s just not worth leaving it, for it to potentially get worse. 1 in 40 of us will get melanoma at some point in our lives. . Take photos of your moles every 3 months. Place a ruler next to the mole when taking the photo, to take the guess work out of whether it’s grown or not. Doing this will help you to see any changes quicker, which would mean it could get dealt with earlier 💕
