Healds Green Honey Bees

We are well and truly into “bee” season with frequent inspections and lots to think about . Here are a couple of pics from today’s inspection, can you spot the Queen? 🐝❤️

As my honey bees seem to have over wintered well and the honey making season will soon be upon us, I have some gift sets available for Mother’s Day. A lovely afternoon spent at The Dower House Heaton Park at the Manchester and District Bee keeper’s Association HQ selling Imogen’s cards, but also chatting about bees and honey.❤️🐝
We still have cards available for Valentine’s Day on Friday, Mother’s Day in March and some blank ones. ❤️

This smiley young chap is Braxton. He’s seven years old and is one of the kindest young men you’ll ever meet 🥰 He was invited up on stage with three other kids at his local panto on Sunday. As part of a gag, the actors handed out goodie bags to three of the kids - pretending they didn’t have enough and leaving one little girl out. Unaware that it was a joke and there was, of course, a fourth goodie bag, kind-hearted Braxton immediately sacrificed his bag and handed it over to the little girl who was left empty-handed. His selfless act was met by a huge standing ovation and a thunderous applause from the audience - with many saying the special moment was the highlight of the show. Afterwards, Braxton got his own goodie bag and was given a few extra selection boxes for his good deed- which he also gave out to other kids . Well done young man! 👏❤️

After treating the bees for Varoa( a mite that can devastate a colony ) a few weeks ago, today it was time to take out the treatment which gave us the opportunity to have a quick peek at the hive. Fair to say, the bees weren’t too impressed with their cosy hive being opened up to the cold but they are doing ok and making the most of the additional feed that we added.
