Microneedling Monday

When COLLAGEN INDUCTION turns into COLLAGEN DESTRUCTION

I love Microneedling, my clients love Microneedling and the results are amazing. But more and more I’m seeing over worked traumatic results being posted as a badge of achievement.

Microneedling is an Inflammatory traumatic event where the end result is a wound healing response, generating collagen 1 & 3, but …

When trauma is:
• Too deep
• Too aggressive
• Too frequent
• Performed on already inflamed skin the balance shifts from regeneration to breakdown.

Healthy collagen induction depends on:
• Appropriate depth
• Adequate healing intervals
• Skin condition assessment
• Avoiding repeated trauma during inflammation

Repeated trauma before full remodeling completes keeps the tissue in the inflammatory phase, tipping toward enzymatic degradation rather than structured repair.

If you over traumatise in one go or repeatedly traumatise you tip the balance from health to degradation releasing collagenases enzymes that breakdown collagen

This leads to:
• Skin thinning
• Impaired barrier
• Delayed healing
• Accelerated ageing

The very thing we’re working towards repairing.

What are we looking for and why?
- Mild redness or pink sun blushed appearance
Why does it happen?
- Increased blood flow (your body rushes oxygen, nutrients, and immune cells to the area to heal it)
- Inflammatory response (mild, temporary inflammation is part of collagen and elastin production)
- Capillary dilation (tiny blood vessels open up near the surface, making skin look flushed)
How long does it last?
- Immediately after: Skin often looks red
- 24-48 hours: Redness fades significantly
- Up to 72 hours: Mild pinkness, especially on sensitive skin or deeper treatments

The redness means:
- Collagen production has been triggered
- Cellular turnover has increased
Your skin is responding properly to treatment

Aftercare
Gentle hydration + SPF are key. Avoid actives (retinol, acids) and heat (saunas, workouts) for a couple of days so the inflammation can calm down and heal properly.

For more information or to book please contact Caroline Quinn Skin, I look forward to hearing from you x

The Art of Rejuvenation — Beyond the Face

Microneedling isn’t just for the face. The hands, often one of the first areas to reveal the signs of ageing, deserve the same considered care.

By supporting natural collagen renewal, Microneedling helps refine texture, soften the appearance of fine lines and restore a smoother, more rejuvenated appearance.

Because true skin rejuvenation goes beyond the face.

Skin tags are harmless growths that can appear anywhere on your skin, but often develop on the neck, eyelids, or underarms. They may be the same color as your skin or darker. Some are pink. Others turn red when irritated. You may see one dangling from a stalk, while another is firmly fixed to the skin.

With all this variation, there is one thing that acrochordons (medical name for skin tags) seem to have in common. Many people want to remove them.

These growths can appear anywhere on the skin, but they usually develop where skin has been rubbing against skin, jewelry, or clothing for some time. That’s why they usually occur in one or more of these areas:

Breasts (beneath)
Eyelids
Groin
Neck creases (or where clothing or jewelry rubs against the neck)
Underarms
Skin tags are also commonly found on the sides, abdomen, or back.
They can be found anywhere on the body.

It’s important to keep in mind that these growths are harmless.

Because they’re harmless, a skin tag only needs to be removed if it:

Becomes irritated or bleeds
Develops on your eyelid and affects your eyesight
Feels painful, especially when the pain comes on suddenly
A skin tag can become irritated if it frequently rubs against jewelry, clothing, or a seat belt. Shaving can also irritate it, especially if you nick the skin tag.

These tags can be removed very quickly, in seconds, and results are usually permanent, multiple tags can be removed in one session. Unlike other methods of removal which relies on the tag to fall off in time, sometimes weeks, Diathermy is instant.

Numbing cream is advised to ensure this process is as comfortable as possible for you and this can be purchased in most pharmacies (Emla Numbing Cream)
