Opening soon The Summerhouse Takeaway in the car park beside the salon.
Initially serving Wood Fired Sourdough Pizzas 🍕, homemade soup and deserts along with chips and hot and cold filled roll as well as quality burgers and weekly special starters and mains.

The reality of being a hairstylist and a business owner
The things clients don’t realise
We invest so much in you and look forward to your visit we genuinely care about you and we will prob know your plans better than we can Remember what side your hair parts on

If client leaves yes we will always wonder what was the reason and how we could have done better or wonder if your ok and trust me we do worry about our older clientele

We know the reality is
We are all only human and can’t always get it right or clients circumstances change often these reasons we are not in control of .

But the one thing I have learned over the years it’s very hard not to make an emotional investment in your clients it’s hard to be impartial when you see clients regularly sometimes over years and years but for everyone you loose two will come along it’s the cycle of owning a business

The one thing we can only be in control of and that is our investment and growth as individual’s and as a team

Growth after all is key to a healthy business,

We pride ourself on customer service we have always had an open door policy customers are always welcome no matter if they jump from salon to salon or we haven’t seen you in months even years

If somethings not right with your service or you made a bad choice we will make alterations after all sometimes you buy something and it’s not what you thought that’s ok as long as it’s not the decision of doing something drastic

It’s ok to ask and it should never be awkward to say can you do this for me ❤️

And to other salons if one of our customers has found their way to your chair I am happy for the customer and you
Am happy they have found someone who suits them and can work to their needs
That is how business should work collaborate supporting each other if we cannot provide a service I will always recommend other salons to go to for a specific need .❤️


Am back blogging again

I want to break down salon stigma and expectations and seeing salon life from a different perspective this year and opening up more about what it’s like behind the chair and salon life ❤️

I thought before this year comes to a close that I would start introducing us as a team since the algorithm is starting to like my Buisness page

My name is Tina

I am the owner and the captain of our little team
I have been hairdressing for over 27 years .
I started my career in 1997 at Perth collage then went to work for the wonderful Charlie Taylor.
After leaving Charlie’s to start a family in 2003

I had this crazy idea to start a little shop while my kids grew up 20 years later we are proudly still here
Meanwhile within that time I have had to try and navigate my life with imposter syndrome and anxiety which has lead me on many adventures just to prove I can and I will .

In 2009 I went back to Charlie’s to become a trainer with skills development Scotland with VTCT to become an assessor .
In 2016 I became a Master colour expert with Wella
In 2019 I became an educator for milkshakehairuk
Covering the whole of Scotland for HairandBeauty world
In 2023 we became a full stockist of OSMO and I briefly educated for them too. Ending my path as a brand eductor to change direction and come back in to the fold of private education ❤️

I’ve won best female colourist two years in a row with SHABA awards and a finalist four times previous years

In 2025 I auditioned for the Fellowship of British hairdressing project Scotland and landed a place on team spending a year learning from some incredible artist.

Am proud to say I auditioned for 2026 fellowship fame team reaching the final 8 sadly not to be for next year
But I hope I made an impression I really look forward to reapplying for 2027 it was intense but so much fun 🤭😂😂😂❤️

The plan for 2026 is to move forward with education and expand
Am looking forward to creating a local hub for self employed as well as employed hairdressers to meet and share experiences and collaborate skills over coffee and cake
while also focusing on in house training with our own team ❤️
And of course welcoming our customers back in the new year ❤️

Colour care maintance is so important with vivids
Use the best of the best for increasing the life of your colour .biased as I am osmo is of course the best quality at affordability because it’s made here in Scotland the Xmas packs are fantastic value too ❤️
The dreaded cool wash I know I know the middle of winter but as long as your not using piping hot water and your using products that will help the longevity of your colour you will be ok contrary to belief but freezing cold is best if you can take it 😂😂😂😂
The stronger and brighter the vivid the more its likely to stick around for a while depending on the condition of the hairs starting point
The paler the more maintance and care it will need .
Vivids don’t need to be extreme to spice things up a little either
