Emma picked up this gorgeous scrunchie yesterday after maintenance & decor. With only 12 partial dreadlocks a spiralock is a great alternative to regular elastics which can cause damage to hair.

Hair continues to grow at its normal rate (about 0.5 inches or 1.25 cm per month on average) even with natural dreadlocks, but the locs create better length retention, making it appear to grow longer and thicker over time.

Key Reasons Dreadlocks Often Seem to Grow Faster/Longer

• Reduced breakage: Hair strands are bundled and protected inside the loc, so they’re less prone to snapping from daily manipulation, brushing, heat, or styling.
• Shed hairs stay trapped: Normally, around 11% of hairs are shedding and fall out with loose styles. In locs, they often remain woven in, adding to length and fullness.
• Minimal manipulation: No frequent combing or tight styles means less stress on follicles, supporting healthier growth overall.
Dreadlocks do not accelerate the biological growth rate, but they excel at retention compared to loose natural hair.
