My story

More and more people are opening up about their feelings and what they have been through since I've started sharing my own story and especially after ive become a massage therapist.

I never thought it was as bad as what it was, as I knew what was happening, even called them out, not being aware at the time it only fuels them more and to make you feel 1000% worse, but I had no control.

Memories good and bad will randomly pop back in and out, but for the first time properly, as I held my youngest in my arms and I look over at my eldest, tears slowly slid down my cheeks, as I released that I am free, no it's not over but I am free.

I loved a man, who I thought was my world, my life partner, someone who I thought I would grow old with. Don't get me wrong there was a few happy moments even now sat by the sea, memories pop in, but for every happy moment there was double the hurt either before or after, at the start of the relationship you would first get sorry, after being made to feel guilty for the most innocent things but it slowly turned over time, and the sorrys, even the big gestures, knowing they they have done wrong, starts to just fade and you just become a thing where they take everything away from you and you become just an empty shell of silence.

When you finally come out of the relationship at the start, you hold a lot of guilt, you wonder if you did the right thing, you fear for children, you fear to walk out the house, what people will say. Everything becomes a bit lonely even though you're not on your own.

When this stage passes, and they know that they can't get to you, they will try the next stage, your achilles, children, just to try and keep control, no matter what the damage physically or mentally it does to each child. Don't get me wrong It hurts, and still does, as each will child did and will always come first, even the one's, who are not blood.

I hope that whoever reads this, know you are stronger than you think. An abuser isn't always a partner, it could be parents, siblings, in-laws, management or even friends, in my case it was my partner, influenced by his family. Life is for living and there is always a way out even though it doesn't feel like it at the time, this I promise. To help your children, always speak small kind words even though you know it's not always true, as they will release the truth, as they get older. It is the children who brake the cycle, otherwise they take it into their adulthood.

Breast Cancer awareness afternoon tea raise a cup and awareness of breast cancer.

This maybe hard to believe breast cancer can affect not only women but men too.

Women diagnosed with breast cancer: is roughly about 59,000 woman a year → around 1,130 women per week.

Men diagnosed with breast cancer: about 420 men a year → around 8 men per week.

For men who go undiagnosed and think it is only women who are affected: male breast cancer is rare, one reason is because it can be missed, as men may not think a breast/chest change could be cancer and may delay seeking help

Breast cancer in men makes up less than 1% of breast cancer cases in the UK.

A man with a new lump, ni**le change, discharge, skin changes, or persistent breast/chest symptoms should get it checked rather than assuming it cannot be breast cancer
