🌿 A Thought for Father’s Day

Today we celebrate fathers.

But perhaps a father isn’t always defined by blood.

Sometimes a father is the man who chooses to show up.

The one who teaches by example.

The one who keeps his word.

The one who listens, encourages, protects, and quietly stands beside a child as they find their own way in the world.

A father is often found in the everyday moments.

Showing someone how to ride a bike.

Turning up when it matters.

Teaching respect, kindness, resilience, and responsibility.

Offering guidance without control.

Strength without fear.

Love without conditions.

The truth is, children rarely remember every gift they received.

But they do remember how someone made them feel.

Safe.

Capable.

Valued.

Loved.

So today, we celebrate the fathers, stepfathers, grandfathers, uncles, mentors, and father figures who have chosen to invest their time, wisdom, patience, and love into the life of a child.

The world needs more of that.

One of the things we’ve noticed over the years is that some of the most memorable moments happen whilst food is being made rather than eaten.

The conversation while the bread is proving.

Children licking the spoon.

Someone asking if it’s ready yet.

The smell filling the house.

The anticipation.

Perhaps that’s why we still enjoy making things from scratch when we can.

Not because it’s cheaper.

Not because it’s healthier.

Not because we think everyone should.

But because it slows us down for a little while.

And in a world that often asks us to move faster, there is something quite lovely about that.
