GRAZING WARNING ā IMPORTANT INFO!
Grazing after waxing has become increasingly common, especially as skincare routines have evolved and become a key part of self-care in 2025. While great skincare is beneficial, itās crucial to understand how the products you use before your appointment can affect your treatment. Certain ingredients can make the skin more sensitive, increasing the risk of grazing.
Grazing isnāt just uncomfortableāit can take several days to heal, just like a cut or wound. In some cases, it may even lead to scarring. This can take away from your beautifully shaped brows and make your experience less enjoyableāsomething neither of us wants!
The ingredients listed below act as exfoliants, which means they thin the skin by removing the top layer and exposing fresh, delicate skin underneath. Since warm wax is also an exfoliant, it naturally removes a layer of skin, which is why slight redness is common after waxing. However, when waxing is done on skin that has already been thinned by these ingredients, it can result in grazingājust like what you see in the photo.
Being mindful of your skincare routine before waxing can help prevent this, ensuring the best possible results for your brows!
Important Pre-Waxing Skincare Guidelines ā Avoid Grazing!
To ensure the best results and prevent skin irritation, please stop using the following at least 14 days before your treatment (or longer if specified):
⢠Retinols (e.g., Tretinoin, Vitamin A & E)
⢠Any Acids (e.g., Vitamin C)
⢠AHA/BHA (Alpha & Beta Hydroxy Acids)
⢠Products with Active Percentages
⢠Prescription Skincare Medications
⢠Steroid Creams
⢠Antibiotics
⢠Roaccutane (waxing should be avoided indefinitely)
Even if youāre applying these products to another areaālike your chināyour skin is all connected, meaning it can and will impact your brows. Whether itās a face wash, cleanser, or serum, any product containing these ingredients increases your risk of grazing. Unfortunately, even with protective measures, this is beyond our control as professionals.
By understanding whatās in your skincare, youāre helping us keep your brows beautiful and your skin safe. These guidelines are also detailed in my Terms & Conditions under the skincare sectionāI know not everyone reads them, but please try to! Itās all about keeping you informed and ensuring the best possible results.
