You should expect a small amount of peeling after the treatment this is quite normal as the peel is exfoliating the skin.

Have you ever felt conscious that you're developing heavier jowls or that your jawline had begun to lose definition?
We all deserve to feel confident but so many people feel unhappy with their facial profile. I often have clients state they feel their jawline has weakened and lost definition, this absolutely can happen, as we age we experience bone reabsorption, we also lose collagen and structure in the mid-face, which makes the lower face heavier. If this is the case, filler can be added along the jawline to restore lost definition, we use a cannula which is less invasive as requires less injection points. The cheeks may also need volume restoring.

However, what I often find is that it isn't the jawline that's causing the problem, if the chin is slightly weak or set back (recessed - think Gail Platt from Coronation Street) this can make the jawline appear shorter and less defined.

A weaker chin can also make us become fixated on other features such as the nose, the nose can appear out of balance if the The patients in these photos had a procedure known as chin augmentation, this is where dermal filler is injected to the chin to add projection, balance the facial features and give the illusion of a more defined jawline, 2mls of filler was used in both cases for a beautiful, natural looking enhancement.

l often see chins that have had too much projection added (by another practitioner), this can spoil the facial profile in an entirely different way! If a treatment it is not needed, I will always say no to a client over carrying out something unnecessarily, my ethos is that all treatments should compliment your natural features.

Have you heard the news?

The UK government is introducing stricter regulations and a new lisensing scheme for non-surgical treatments and aesthetic practitioners.

We are hopeful this progression is the beginning of stricter and enforceable regulations around aesthetic treatments here in England.

This is long overdue and having seen first hand the work of non medical practitioners and supporting clients to reverse and retreat procedures, I’m very happy that these measures are being introduced.

What are your thoughts?

If a client is under specialist medical led care for a health condition, as a specialist nurse myself, I understand the protocols involved and the need for consultant or allied specialist approval before proceeding with any aesthetic procedure.

Let’s talk Nasolabial Folds and Marionette Lines!

Filler that is added to the folds between the nose and mouth and from the corners of the mouth down to the chin. This treatment provides an immediate result which then further improves as the filler becomes hydrated over a period of 2-3 weeks, shadows are reduced and clients often remark that they feel their appearance is less sad/severe looking, the client is also left with a more youthful appearance.

A consultation is always needed beforehand as often filler may be needed to restore lost structure and support in the mid face area (cheeks), this may then reduce the pressure from the fat pads which press on the lower face and cause the nasolabial folds and often heavy jowls.
