Over the last 28 years I have undertaken professional development courses to keep up to date with current trends in all hair types which includes Hairdressing NVQ Level 2/3, advance cutting, colouring & hair products courses also NVQ Level 3 Customer Care to ensure my clients are recieving the highest standard of service. The opportunity and position came at Ph2 Hairdressing to open on Sundays 9.30am – 3.30pm to carry out hairdressing services (FOR ALL HAIR TYPES) to existing clients and new clients. In 2003 I decided after 14 years being employed/self employed to open my business in ( as I planned for a family) I planned to study to be able to close the business when the time was right (2015) to then re-plan my career to have the time to be able to carry out hairdressing services, lecture/train learners and teach children in schools. I attended over 20 business courses from 2003-2014 to gain knowledge of opening a business and still attend business courses to keep up with changes which are noted below:
HMRC Business Planning, Level 3 Business Management, Nonstop foundation – Business Planning, Schedu – Business Planning and Adult Learners Weeks Award presented by the University of Sheffield – Opening a business also been awarded Certificates in providing Quality Placement Provider from schools and the Business and Education authorities. Whilst studying for the NVQ Level 2 I decided that I would like to assess learners, lecture also to assess the other assessors ensuring that the learning that I being carried out is being met. To be able to do this I had to study extra courses listed below:
NVQ Level 3 – Assessing, NVQ Level 4 – IQA Assessment Process and Practice, Degree in Teaching and currently studying for BA Honours in Education and Professional Development there is also a Degree in Hairdressing that I will undertake. Teaching from todlders up to Y3
I also secured a position at a school (2012 - 2016) where I taught from toddlers to Y3 and I find it helpful whilst carrying out service’s at the salon. Over the last 10 years I have studied and achieved NVQ Level 2 qualifications in Childcare, Learning and Developing, NVQ Level 3 in Children and Young People’s workforce and also currently studying NVQ L4 Higher Level Teaching Assistant. I hold current DBS, Safeguarding and First Aid Certificates. I studied Hairdressing, Childcare and Teaching as all three enhances each other run and I do have the art in teaching children not to be afraid of having their hair cut and to enjoy the experience.
