π Pink and red β€οΈ The colour combination that someone, somewhere, decided was a clash.
Those people are wrong. It's catagorically ICONIC. π

π The moment I knew something had to change?
π΅βπ« I was sat in my car at gone 9:30pm, too tired to focus my eyes properly, working out whether I was actually safe to drive home. I'd started offering late appointments so clients could come after work. I thought I was being accommodating. I didn't realise I was just quietly dismantling myself.
My books were full. My reviews were glowing. On paper, I was "smashing it."
π«© In reality, I was eating crisps for dinner because cooking felt impossible, cancelling on every friend I had and quietly lying awake at 2am, thinking about jacking it all in.
I'd tried every fix the industry hands you. Charge more. Batch your days. Get the booking system. Outsource your admin. None of it worked, because none of it was built for a brain like mine or a body like mine. And every time another "solution" failed, I added it to the growing pile of evidence that I was the problem.
I wasn't the problem. The model was.
π‘When I finally stopped trying to force myself into a neurotypical, able-bodied version of "successful self-employed beauty pro" and started building something that actually worked with my health and my brain β everything changed. Not overnight. Not dramatically. Just quietly, steadily, in a way that's still true today.
That's the work I do now. And if you're sitting in your car right now wondering if it's just you β it isn't. And it isn't permanent either.
Follow along. You don't have to figure this out by yourself. π«Ά

π’ A hot take that might ruffle some glitter-dusted feathers:
Fully booked isn't the flex we've been told it is. Especially if your brain or body doesn't run on factory settings.
Save this for the next time you catch yourself opening more availability to "catch up." β
Lucy Xx
Text on slides reads:
"Being fully booked is not the goal. It's the trap.
We've somehow decided that a packed column from 8am to 8pm is the gold standard of a "successful" beauty business. That if your books aren't bursting, you're not really making it. That the answer to feeling exhausted, skint, or stuck is always *more clients*.
But here's what nobody talks about, especially if your brain or body doesn't run on neurotypical, able-bodied factory settings:
A full book built on running yourself into the ground isn't a successful business. It's a very pretty burnout machine with a card reader attached.
I've watched (and lived) the cycle:
β Push through the flare to honour the bookings
β Crash for three days after
β Panic about money
β Open more availability to "catch up"
β Repeat until you're crying in the salon loo wondering if you're just not cut out for this
You are cut out for this. The model you've been handed isn't cut out for *you*.
Sustainable income doesn't come from squeezing more clients into a body that's already waving a white flag. It comes from designing the whole thing β pricing, hours, services, energy, recovery β around how you actually function. Not how a neurotypical, healthy 20-year-old in a YouTube tutorial functions.
"Fully booked" is a vanity metric. "Still standing at the end of the week with money in the bank and a life outside the salon" is the actual win.
If your version of success has been quietly destroying you, it might not be your version. It might be one you inherited."
