Three full days post-microneedling ✨

I had my treatment on Saturday and I’m now three full days post-treatment. SPF 50 every day and my skin is looking and feeling really lovely — smooth, healthy and refreshed.

Microneedling is one of those treatments that can give the skin a beautiful boost, especially when you’re looking to support texture, glow and overall skin quality.

But it’s also really important to say that microneedling isn’t necessarily the right starting point for everybody.

For best results, you need to be willing to look after your skin properly in between appointments too — especially with gentle skincare, hydration, barrier support and daily SPF.

Sometimes, the best place to start is with a good skin routine and some more gentle facial treatments first, to reset the skin and get the barrier in a healthier place before moving into advanced treatments.

That’s why I’ll always look at your skin, your current routine, your lifestyle and what you’re realistically able to maintain before recommending something like microneedling.

The Holiday Glow Signature Facial is a beautiful option if you’re wanting a proper glow-focused treatment. It includes dermaplaning, exfoliation, mask, LED light therapy, massage and finishing products, so it’s a really lovely facial for the price.

The Dermaplane Glow Mini Facial is also a great choice at £50 if you want smoother, fresher-looking skin without going into a longer advanced treatment.

The Clinicare Painless Peel Facial is a lovely starter treatment if you’re curious about peels but not ready for anything stronger.

The Back Cleanse & Glow and Neck & Décolletage Glow are both currently on offer at £40, so it’s a great time to try them if they’ve caught your eye.

And if you’ve been curious about microdermabrasion or microneedling, the taster sessions are a good way to get started. They’re still proper skin-focused mini facials, not quick in-and-out appointments.

Weight loss can change your skin too 🤍

There’s a lot of conversation at the moment around weight-loss injections, and one thing people don’t always expect is that weight loss can affect the face as well as the body.

When weight is lost, especially if it happens quite quickly, the face can lose some of the natural fullness that supports the skin.

This can sometimes make the skin look:

• less plump
• a little looser
• more tired
• more lined
• drier or more crepey
• less firm around the cheeks, jawline or neck

This doesn’t mean anything has gone “wrong” — it’s often simply that the skin is trying to keep up with changes happening underneath.

Skincare and skin treatments won’t replace lost facial volume, but they can help support the skin quality, hydration, barrier and texture while your body is changing.

Things that can help support the skin include:

• daily SPF
• good hydration
• enough protein and balanced nutrition
• barrier-supportive skincare
• gentle exfoliation where suitable
• collagen-supportive treatments such as microneedling, peels, LED or microdermabrasion, depending on your skin

The key is choosing the right treatment for your skin, rather than just booking whatever sounds strongest.

Day 2 post-microneedling update 🤍

This is the same skin the day after my microneedling treatment.

You can see how much the redness has settled compared with immediately after treatment, but the skin is still very much in recovery mode.

After microneedling, it’s normal for the skin to feel a little warm, tight, dry or sensitive for a short time. This is why aftercare matters so much.

For the first couple of days, it’s really important to keep things simple:

• gentle cleansing
• hydration
• no acids or retinol
• no exfoliation
• no heavy makeup if possible
• avoid heat, sauna, steam and sweating
• protect the skin from the sun
• SPF once advised/suitable

Microneedling is an advanced treatment — not just a facial — and the recovery stage is part of the process.

The aim is to support the skin safely while it repairs and renews.

I was lucky enough to be a training model today for a good friend who has just stepped into advanced skincare 🤍

And honestly, it was lovely to be on the other side of the treat bed for once.

This is me shortly after microneedling, which is why my skin looks red. Redness is a normal immediate response and usually settles over the next day or two, depending on the skin.

I wanted to share this because there is a big difference between a relaxing facial and an advanced skin treatment.

Facials are beautiful for hydration, glow, comfort, relaxation and general skin support.

Advanced treatments such as microneedling, chemical peels and microdermabrasion are more targeted. They require additional training, skin knowledge, careful consultation, safe technique, professional products and correct aftercare.

They are not usually a quick fix. They are often part of a treatment pathway, especially when working on concerns such as texture, pores, fine lines, scarring, congestion or overall skin quality. Results are usually built over time with regular appointments and supportive homecare.

There can also be some downtime. After microneedling, skin may feel warm, tight or sensitive, so aftercare really matters. Following the correct advice helps protect the skin while it recovers and reduces the risk of irritation, sun sensitivity, infection or using the wrong products too soon.

Advanced treatment pricing reflects more than time on the bed. It includes training, knowledge, consultation, sterile consumables, professional products, insurance, safe disposal, aftercare guidance and the responsibility that comes with treating skin safely.
