Life at SJC

As part of the Society of St James’ specialist supported accommodation - here at St James Care we look after 16 adults, mostly over the age of 50, with long-term alcohol dependency or complex mental health needs.

We respect the fact that some of our residents have made a conscious decision to continue using alcohol as part of their day to day living – our role is to help them do this more safely so that they can still enjoy their daily lives.

By managing our resident’s money and their alcohol intake, we can ensure that they are not drinking to dangerous levels, which for many of them is how they have used alcohol for many years.

Residents have access to excellent facilities, including a fully equipped modern kitchen, ample communal space, lots of daily activities and trips out, a beautiful rear garden with a sunny outlook, raised flower beds, a vegetable plot and greenhouse, several beautiful wooden decked seating areas and a family of doves!
