Unfortunately due to rising costs we had to increase our prices to keep up with the rise of running our salon and keeping the level of service that we provide for you all.

The new prices have been added to the booking system and will be updated to the bookings already in the system accordingly since the beginning of March.

Any concerns please don’t hesite to let us know and thank you for your continued support

Yes it has been 5 years since we opened our doors!!! It literally has flown by these 5 years
We are very grateful to all the customers that fallowed us from mothercare and to all the new ones that we have on the new premises.
We love all the kindness and support you have showned us over the years and to our business.
We appreciate every single one of you and we wouldn’t be where we are today if it wasn’t for you.
We have laughed and we have cried but it has all been worth it!….

One very special boy that we love very much. Thank you Charlie for choosing us. We are here to help, to embrace and respect each and everyone that comes through our doors.
We are grateful that you trust us to do such simple task yet it so overwhelming at times.

Some days are hard, really hard, yesterday was one of those days...

Charlie was anxious and emotional from the moment he woke. Both things are normal for him, but yesterday was very extreme. Moments like this bring worry and frustration in equal measure. Worry in case it's something more sinister than just emotional dysregulation, frustration because everything feels like a battle. A battle you can't win, a problem you don't know how to solve.

He didn't like his new shoes, he violently refused them. He then refused any shoes. Eventually after forty minutes trying to explain, calm, and negotiate, he was carried to the car sans shoes.

He was frustrated at every red traffic light, every moment of heavy traffic, every time the car slowed or stopped.

He had a haircut to get to and we were not hopeful it would happen.

Yet in the midst of all the chaos we managed that haircut, we managed a haircut that was right for him.

He moved freely, his set the pace. He used his jigsaw, he sat, stood, and chose where he wanted to be.

He has been visiting Shortcuts Children's Salon Leeds since he was very small, he always has the same stylist. Sonia is very important to him. He may not like haircuts but he does love Sonia.

She understands, she is calm and caring. Her patience and ability to make him feel involved is very special.

With lots of cuddles, counting, and sitting on the floor at times, she managed to cut his hair.

He still doesn't love the process but he never leaves the salon afraid, he always returns with a loud shout of "hello Sonia".

For children with sensory processing disorder like Charlie haircuts are not straightforward, finding someone who understands and is willing to adapt is everything.

It is an over 40 mile round trip for us to visit the salon and we have never considered changing to somewhere closer. When you find something that works you hold it tight.

Thank you Sonia for always respecting Charlie and his feelings. Thank you for making him feel safe, for recognising when he has reached his limit, and for letting him know you are one of his people.

Some things in life are only possible because someone special takes the time to understand what you need to make that thing happen!

Morning everyone and happy new year. Just a quick post to update you on todays situation

It’s very icy on the road so please take extra care when making your way into the salon. We are open as usual but please do take extra care when travelling and allow plenty of time for your journey as side roads are not the best. Main roads have been gritted but our road not.

Good morning everyone, Leeds has woken up under a blanket of snow. Rain is forecasted but it’s not quite here yet.
We are going to open soon but it’s quite tricky out there so please take extra care if you decide to come to your appointment. Please don’t feel pressured into coming, you can always reschedule the appointments it’s not worth getting yourselves into a dangerous situation
Myself and Harriet will try to get there safely and on time but no guarantees
