Biggest no-nos for extensions

1. Putting conditioner/oil near the beads
This is the #1 mistake. Oils, masks, and heavy conditioners can make the nano rings slip down.

* Keep conditioner mid-length to ends only
* Avoid scalp oils unless your stylist says otherwise

2. Not separating the bonds daily
Nano rings can start to twist and matt together at the root.

* Use your fingers every day to gently separate each bead
* Especially after washing or sleeping

3. Sleeping with loose hair
This causes root tangling fast.

* Sleep with a loose braid or low ponytail
* A silk or satin pillowcase helps a lot

4. Tugging when brushing
Never drag a brush through the bonds.

* Hold the hair at the root
* Brush ends first, then work upward
* Use an extension brush or loop brush

5. Going too long between maintenance appointments
Nano rings usually need moving up every 6–8 weeks (sometimes sooner if your hair grows fast).
Waiting too long can cause:

* matting near the scalp
* uneven pulling
* breakage of your own hair

6. Washing upside down
Flipping your hair over in the shower can make nanos knot together.

* Wash standing upright
* Smooth shampoo downward

7. Heat directly on the rings
Straighteners/curling irons can heat the metal bead and weaken or damage your natural hair. When using heat please always use heat protector on your hair

* Keep hot tools away from the attachment points

8. Tight ponytails too soon or too often
Especially right after fitting.
This can put tension on the nano sections and cause soreness or traction breakage.

9. Ignoring slipping beads
If a nano starts sliding, don’t leave it.
One loose bead can tangle with others and create matting.

10. DIY bead tightening
Trying to squeeze slipped beads yourself can crush or weaken your natural hair if done incorrectly.

* Pain beyond the first few days
* Beads visible when hair moves naturally
* Beads slipping down noticeably
* Tangles/matting near roots
* Small broken hairs around extension sections

Separate roots + gentle brush + braid at night.
