Coffee, a walk, and a few thoughts on rehab ☕️
One thing I see a lot after pain or injury is people slowly avoiding certain movements, positions or loads.
Not always consciously either.
The body starts protecting itself.
And initially, that can make sense.
But over time, the body adapts to avoidance just as well as it adapts to training.
That’s why good rehab usually isn’t about throwing people straight back into the deep end.
It’s about finding the right entry point:
- the right movement
- the right range
- the right load
- at the right time
Then progressively building confidence, tolerance and capacity from there.
The goal isn’t to avoid stress forever…
…it’s to gradually become adaptable enough to handle it again.

What a result 👇
Dan came to us at the start of the year with a goal:
👉 break 2:50 for the marathon!
What we built around him was simple, but specific:
- Weekly programming that actually changed as he progressed
- Regular contact (not just left to it)
- In-person sessions to refine things
- Physio input to keep niggles under control
As he says in his review, it wasn’t just a plan.
It was:
- Having someone adjust things week to week
- Having support when it got tough
- Not feeling like you’re guessing your way through it
Result:
👉 2:49 at Newport
👉 big PB
👉 stayed injury free through the block
That’s the difference when everything ties together properly.

This is what consistent training looks like 👇
Ben’s been putting in the work over the last 6 months, not just training harder, but training properly.
This weekend he put it to the test:
- 10km hilly trail run
- 40km coastal bike
- 5km trail run
- Finished in 2:43
But this isn’t about one race.
It’s about:
- Building strength alongside endurance
- Staying consistent week in, week out
- Having structure instead of guessing
That’s what actually drives progress 📈
Most people don’t need more motivation, they need better structure.
