Another common question I get asked is: How long does it take to see the results of botox injections?
The answer is: not long! Most of you should see some improvement in the wrinkles within the first 3 to 5 days but to see the best results it could take up to 10 - 14 days.

What is Botox and how does it work?

Hi All, I often get this above question asked by my clients, friends and colleagues. Thought I shall share the answers for these questions in this post with you all.

So what is Botox? Botox is an injectable botulinum toxin, produced by the bacteria Clostridium Botulinum.

How does it work? Botox blocks the signals between the nerves and muscles because of which the injected muscles are unable to contract. This reduces the wrinkles in the face. Commonest use of Botox is wrinkle reduction in the face. There are however other uses of Botox as listed below:
1/ to reduce severe underarm sweating (hyperhidrosis)
2/ reduce muscle spasms in conditions like cervical dystonia
3/ overactive bladder and other similar conditions.

My name is Lovely. I am a qualified nurse with more than 15 years of experience in nursing career. I currently work as a nurse in operating theatres in Good Hope Hospital and Birmingham Heartlands hospital.
