Rural Anchor - Swansea

📣📣📣We are pleased to announce Swansea has received funding to support rural communities through the UK Government’s Local Growth Fund (UK LGF), with a total grant pot of £200k to be spent no later than Dec 2026. 💷💷💷

This project is supported by the Welsh Government through the UK Local Growth Fund in Wales.

⚡ This is a grant delivered by Swansea Council to invest in renewable energy schemes in Swansea’s rural areas, aiming to reduce carbon emissions 🌍 and lower energy costs 💡 to support the ongoing sustainability of rural organisations and facilities.

Grant support available:
👉Maximum grant £25,000
👉Rural Renewable Energy Grants do not require match funding. All grants are awarded at a 100% intervention rate and can be used as match against other grant bodies.
👉Funding costs are capital only.
👉Applicants may only submit one application to Swansea Rural Renewable Energy Grant in this funding round.
👉Award of the funding is entirely at the discretion of Swansea Council.

✅Constituted Community Groups – not for profit
✅Charities
✅3rd Sector Organisations – not for profit
✅Public Organisations – not for profit

Projects in other wards may be supported on a case-by-case basis if they are on the geographical fringes of the above-named wards, or in extraordinary circumstances areas with extensive natural environments in other wards.

Funding for Community-Led Outdoor Nature Projects (England, Scotland and Wales))

Grants of £10,000 to £25,000 are available through The Wildlife Trusts’ Green Community Grants Programme for not-for-profit groups delivering outdoor nature projects in England, Scotland and Wales.

The programme offers one-year flexible funding to support environmental action, nature recovery and climate-focused community projects.

To be eligible for funding, you must have been operating for a minimum of 12 months and your organisation's main aims and objectives must fit with one of the two funding themes:

- Contributing to nature recovery and responding to the climate emergency
- Improving nature-rich spaces and access to them

Whilst applications should fit one of these two themes, funding can also be used for a wider range of sustainable activities, including recycling, litter picking, beach cleans or sustainable transport.

Funding can support practical outdoor projects that help bring nature back, improve access to green spaces and involve local communities in nature recovery.

Priority will be given to organisations:

- that have an income of £250,000 or below
- that work in communities located in the top 15% of the Index of Multiple Deprivation
- whose main activities are focused on supporting marginalised groups. This could include, but is not limited to, disabled people, communities experiencing racial inequity, and LGBT+ people
- whose objects or purposes within its governing document relate to habitat or species restoration/protection

Help us keep Mumbles looking its best by joining our friendly community tidy as part of Wales Nature Week.
We’ll be meeting at West Cross Top Shops before making our way to Whitestone Primary School, carrying out light weeding and litter picking along the route. Whether you can stay for the whole session or just lend a hand for a while, everyone is welcome.
