Here’s What to Know Before Your Nail Appointment⬇️

The lunula is the pale half-moon shape at the base of your nail, softer than the rest of the nail and fully attach to the nail matrix.

Some people naturally have larger or more visible lunula on every finger.
And that’s often completely normal.

If you have a prominent lunula here are a few tips to share with your nail technician:

✨ Request gentle cuticle care
Avoid aggressive pushing, cutting, or scraping around the base of the nail.
If this step is done wrong, it can cause permanent damage.

✨ Be mindful of pressure near the nail base
The lunula sits above the nail matrix, where your nail grows. Excessive pressure can cause discomfort or irritation and lead to further complications.

✨ Ask for careful filing and buffing
Over-filing near the cuticle area can thin the nail plate and potentially affect nail health.

✨ Speak up if something hurts
A professional nail service shouldn’t be painful. Let your technician know immediately if you feel discomfort.

✨ Keep cuticles hydrated
Regular cuticle oil helps maintain healthy nails and can reduce the need for extensive cuticle work.

Especially for gel, acrylic, or enhancement services that involve work close to the nail base.

Large, visible lunulas are often just a normal variation in nail anatomy and don’t necessarily indicate a health problem.

It was an absolute pleasure welcoming Paris into my chair. ✨

While the transformation wasn’t without its challenges, we successfully removed a heavily overfilled acrylic set and completely restructured the natural nails from the foundation up. By refining the architecture, creating a straighter, more balanced shape, and harmonising the overall appearance of the hands, we achieved a result that was both elegant and long-lasting.

What made this appointment even more rewarding was the trust built throughout our time together. Educating clients on nail health and structure is an essential part of my work, and seeing Paris fully understand the difference between maintenance and true nail care was incredibly fulfilling.

As for the pedicure... that’s a story for another day. 😂
