ADVANCE NOTICE
Appledore Road Closures
Residents are advised that Appledore Road will be closed on two separate occasions by UK Power Networks to allow lighting column works, including multiple road crossings and trenches. These closures have been scheduled during the school holidays with the aim of reopening the road before schools return. KCC say overnight closures are not possible, as the road would need to be reinstated each evening to reopen in the morning, which would significantly extend the overall length of the works.

Closure dates:
14 February – 22 February - Half Term School Holidays
7 April – 19 April - Easter School Holidays

Residents within the closure points will still be able to access their homes. However, residents outside the closure points will not be permitted through and must follow the signed diversion route, for the safety of workers and road users. Local bus companies have been informed.

The diversion route currently shown for through traffic is:
Reading Street → Brenzett → East Guldeford → Rye→ Four Oaks → Newenden → Rolvenden → Tenterden.

This is obviously a significant official diversion approved by KCC. Estimated distance about 45–50 miles, with an estimated driving time around 1 hour 20 minutes to 1 hour 50 minutes, depending on traffic and conditions. More information to follow! Please share

NOTE - I have sent multiple emails to KCC in an attempt to get this work changed to nighttime working and/or traffic lights only in view of the disruption it will cause to residents and local businesses. Currently I've had no luck ^Sue

🌟 I am running a charity dog wash, with all proceeds going to Cancer Research UK.

As some of you know, I lost my Dad to cancer 4 years ago. He was 55years old, and had so much more life to live. This is such an important charity to me❤️
