So many people think self-care is bubble baths, face masks and spa days… but that’s only the very top of the pyramid.

If you’re constantly feeling burnt out, it might not be because you need another pamper day. It might be because one of the foundations is missing.

✨ My Self-Care Pyramid

šŸ” 1. Physiological self-care (the foundation)
This always comes first. Sleep, hydration, nourishing your body and regular movement. If these needs aren’t being met, everything else becomes so much harder.

ā¤ļø 2. Emotional self-care
This is one of the biggest ones for me. Boundaries. Learning to say no without guilt. Processing your emotions instead of pushing them down. Making time for hobbies and the things that genuinely bring you joy. Protecting your emotional wellbeing isn’t selfish, it’s essential.

šŸ¤ 3. Social self-care
We all need connection, but the right connection. Healthy connections fill your cup. Toxic or forced connections drain it. Find your people, nurture those relationships, but also learn to enjoy your own company. The relationship you have with yourself matters too.

🌱 4. Growth self-care
The things that help you become the person you want to be. Learning new skills, setting goals, challenging yourself and giving back to others all contribute to a healthier, more fulfilled life.

✨ 5. Luxury self-care (the top of the pyramid)
This is what most people picture when they hear ā€œself-careā€- the holidays, massages, facials and pamper days. They’re lovely, but they can’t replace the foundations underneath. Luxury self-care works best when the rest of your pyramid is already being looked after.

This isn’t a strict scientific model, it’s just how I like to think about self-care. We often jump straight to luxury self-care, but lasting wellbeing is usually built from the foundations up.

Which level do you think you neglect the most? šŸ‘‡

I had a little breakdown today.

I’ve been carrying a really heavy feeling lately. It’s one of those things you can’t fix, change, or control… you just have to accept it. But today it all got a bit too much and I was tipped over the edge.

My Fitbit thinks I’ve done 82 minutes of exercise today. I haven’t. Apparently crying is a workout. 🤣

So, after I put the kids to bed, I knew I needed to do something that would force my nervous system to finally switch off.

Now I’m outside with a book, wrapped up because it’s a bit chilly, listening to the evening sounds. The cool air, being in nature, and getting lost in a story are exactly what I needed for force a system reset.

I can actually feel my body unclenching.

What’s your go-to when you need your nervous system to finally relax?

A lot of us got a little too enthusiastic with the tweezers back in the day. šŸ˜‚

Now some of us are getting closer to that age where hair seems to stop growing where we want it… and starts growing everywhere else. šŸ™ˆ

That’s where a brow lamination can work its magic.

I don’t do the big, fluffy, brushed-up brows. My style is soft, natural-looking brows that simply look fuller, neater and more defined.

Whether your brows have a mind of their own and grow in every direction except the right one, or they’re looking a little sparse with gaps from age and years of over-plucking, brow lamination can help create beautifully tidy, natural looking brows you’ll love.

Would you prefer a subtle, natural brow or the bold fluffy look? šŸ¤Ž

We spend so much time staying in places, jobs, relationships or routines simply because we’ve already invested so much.

But the time you’ve already spent isn’t a reason to keep going in the wrong direction.

Changing your mind isn’t failure. It’s growth. šŸ¤

I used to be an accountant. I didn’t realise for years how much I hated it because I’d convinced myself I’d already invested too much time to walk away.

Changing direction was one of the best decisions I ever made.

What’s one thing you’ve changed direction on that turned out to be the best decision you ever made?

I used to spend so much time wondering why I always felt like the outsider looking in.

Why did everyone else seem to find their people so easily? Why did I always feel like I was watching life happen from the edge?

For years I assumed there must be something wrong with me.
Maybe there is.
Or maybe there never was.
Maybe my brain just works differently.
Maybe I wasn’t meant to squeeze myself into places that were never designed for me in the first place.

The older I get, the less I care about it.

The more boundaries I have, and the less willing I am to be there only when it suits other people.

The less I chase people.

The more I genuinely enjoy my own company whenever I’m not with the beautiful little family that I have created.

I don’t need an invitation to every table. I don’t need everyone to understand me. I don’t need to be everyone’s cup of tea. ā˜•ļø

I just need to enjoy the life I’m building. And I do.

Whether it’s family, friends, work… let them do them, and you do you.

Life becomes a whole lot more peaceful when you stop trying to convince people of your worth and start protecting your own peace instead.

If I’m enjoying the show, I’ll stay. If I’m not, I’ll simply find a new one. šŸ¤

What’s something you’ve stopped chasing as you’ve got older?

Monday Mantra šŸ¤

ā€œToday is going to be a good day.ā€

I can’t control everything that happens to me, but I can control how I choose to respond.

My thoughts shape my actions, and my actions shape my life. That’s why I try to start my week with intention.

I’ve been a little out of the habit of manifesting lately, and I can feel the difference. Time to get back to it!

Whether you’re spiritual or not, there’s some fascinating psychology behind it. When your brain focuses on something, it starts noticing more of it. Think about red cars and suddenly they’re everywhere. It’s not because there are more red cars… it’s because your mind is subconsciously looking for them.

The same can happen with opportunities, gratitude, confidence and the good in your life. What you consistently focus on has a way of shaping what you notice and how you show up.

So today, what are you choosing to focus on?

✨ What would you love to manifest for yourself this week?

Even if you’re not a sun lover, spending just 15 minutes outside with a little sunlight on your face can help your body produce vitamin D and give your mood a natural boost, supporting the feel-good hormones.

Sometimes the smallest habits can make the biggest difference to how we feel. ā˜€ļø

How are you spending this beautiful Sunday?
Preparing and organising the week to make it less overwhelming?
Filling your cup up ready to start the week full?

Let me know šŸ¤

I let TikTok choose the sound … and it knew exactly what I needed.

Some days it feels like life keeps throwing things at you.

Sometimes it’s circumstances.
Sometimes it’s other people’s choices.
Sometimes it’s situations you never asked to be in.

I can’t control what other people do.
I can’t control every situation I find myself in.

But I can control how I respond.
It’s not something I get right every time - ADHD and emotional regulation are definitely still a work in progress - but I’m trying.

So instead of overthinking, reacting impulsively or trying to force things I can’t change, I’m simply choosing to stay in my own lane.

šŸ¤ I’ll change what I can.
šŸ¤ I’ll accept what I can’t.
šŸ¤ And I’ll protect my own peace in the process.

Because at the end of the day, I’m doing the best I can with what’s in front of me.

If you can go to bed tonight knowing you did your best with the cards you were dealt today, that’s enough.

Keep going. šŸ¤

I’ve been a little quiet on here lately… but that’s because I’m practising what I preach.

Sometimes being your best self means putting social media on the back burner and prioritising what your mind and body actually need.

(And before the die-hard Harry Potter fans come for me… if I’ve got a tiny detail wrong, forgive me. The analogy still works. šŸ˜‚)

In Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone, when they’re caught in Devil’s Snare, the more Ron fights it, the tighter it wraps around him. Harry stays calm, stops fighting, and that’s how they get out.

For me, anxiety, overwhelm, burnout and even low moods can feel exactly like that.

This doesn’t mean we give in to depression or anxiety or pretend they don’t matter. It doesn’t mean we stop seeking help, therapy or support.

It means we stop fighting ourselves.

Instead of using all our energy battling the feelings, we can gently work with ourselves. We rest. We get outside. We fill our cup. We ask for help. We practise self-care, self-love and self-respect.

I spent years fighting against my own mind, and all it did was leave me exhausted… just like Ron.

Now, when those dark cloud days arrive, I meet myself with compassion instead of criticism. And, eventually, just like escaping the Devil’s Snare, I find my way back through.

Sometimes the way forward isn’t to fight harder.
Sometimes it’s to be kinder to yourself.

Can anyone else relate? šŸ¤
