🎄🎅🏼 M E R R Y C H R I S T M A S 🎅🏼🎄

5 years ago today, I graduated from with a Masters in Barbering — the hardest but most rewarding thing I’ve ever done.

Halfway through my training, my mum unexpectedly needed complex emergency surgery and I lost my soul mate — my Grandad Maurice. He passed away in my arms on the 6th of October and I was back in school the very next day. I knew I had to keep going.

I devoted myself to becoming the best barber I could be, during one of the most heartbreaking times of my life and in an industry that is heavily male-dominated and often sexist.

Being a woman in barbering isn’t just “different” - it means getting questioned, underestimated and dismissed. I started from nothing, and I had to work twice as hard to earn the respect some men were handed automatically in this industry.

But 5 years on, I run my own business with a fully booked diary week after week - surrounded by clients who trust me not just with their hair but with their stories, their worries, their lives. My chair has been and always will be a safe space and I really hope that always shines through during appointments.

This past week I’ve been handing out personalised Christmas goody bags — a small thank you to every client who has supported my business and believed in me over these last 5 years.

My Grandad always wanted me to become a barber. At 14 I used to cut his hair with £10 clippers from Amazon every few weeks and he’d always say “You’d make an amazing barber one day Em.” He saw my future before I could even imagine it.

So here I am Grandad - I did it. I became everything you told me I could be and I’m so grateful you got to see me take those first steps into barber school.

So Merry Christmas everyone. Thank you for supporting me, trusting me, and helping me create the life I once only dreamed about. I appreciate you all more than you will ever know 🎄🎅🏼🙏🏼💛
