I nearly talked myself out of this trip.
The thought of travelling alone with two children felt overwhelming. The responsibility felt huge, and the anxiety was loud.
But I’ve learnt something the things that bring us the most peace are often the things we nearly don’t do.
This week wasn’t about chasing the perfect holiday. It was about slowing down, laughing more, making memories, and giving all three of us the rest and reset we desperately needed.

Sometimes the hardest boundaries to keep are the ones we know we need. We can often be so busy trying to protect other people’s peace we forget about our own!
Many of us have been taught that being kind means saying yes, putting others first, or carrying the weight of everyone else’s emotions.
But kindness and boundaries can exist together.
Understanding why someone behaves the way they do doesn’t mean you have to tolerate behaviour that repeatedly leaves you feeling drained, anxious or unsafe.
Your nervous system needs safety just as much as everyone else’s.
Healing isn’t about becoming less compassionate.
It’s about learning that your wellbeing deserves protecting too.
