Seborrheic dermatitis is more than just dandruff — in trichology, it’s an inflammatory scalp condition linked to Malassezia yeast and a disrupted skin barrier.
It often starts as clustered, flaky dandruff, but can progress into redness, soreness along the hairline, around the nasal folds, and even extend onto the body.
The key is control, not aggression. Ingredients like salicylic acid, juniper-based actives, and targeted corticosteroid treatments can help calm flare-ups — or you can support the scalp naturally with soothing, barrier-friendly ingredients (I’ll show my recommendations on screen).
But be careful: over-exfoliating or over-scrubbing can actually worsen inflammation and trigger more flaking. When the barrier is disrupted, Malassezia can thrive even more.

“PRP vs RRS injections for hair loss what’s the difference?
As a trichologist, I explain it like this:
PRP uses your own blood platelets to deliver growth factors directly into the scalp. The goal is to stimulate weakened hair follicles and support hair growth.
RRS injectables are different. They’re more of a scalp rejuvenation treatment containing ingredients like hyaluronic acid, vitamins, amino acids, and peptides to improve scalp health and the environment around the follicle.
So in simple terms: PRP = follicle stimulation. RRS = scalp support and hydration.
PRP is usually the stronger option for active thinning and early pattern hair loss, while RRS can work well alongside other treatments to improve overall scalp condition.
But remember the best treatment always depends on the cause of the hair loss, which is why proper scalp analysis is so important.”

PRP (Platelet-Rich Plasma) Therapy – This treatment uses your own plasma and growth factors to stimulate the follicles, encourage healthier growth, and improve overall hair density. As the plasma is taken from your own body, PRP carries very little risk of adverse reaction.
Generally, an initial course of 3 treatments is recommended, followed by maintenance sessions thereafter. Maintenance is usually around 2–3 treatments per year depending on your individual results and response to treatment.

This transformation highlights what targeted trichology care can achieve when we focus on scalp health first.
In the “before,” the hair shows significant thinning and low density, with visible scalp exposure. Through a tailored treatment plan addressing scalp condition, stimulating follicles, and supporting healthy regrowth I was able to dramatically improve both coverage and hair quality.
In the “after,” you can see a fuller, stronger, and more structured result. Not only has density improved, but the hair itself appears healthier, more resilient, and easier to style.
As a trichologist, my approach goes beyond aesthetics. It’s about understanding the root cause, restoring scalp balance, and creating sustainable, long-term results.
If you’re experiencing thinning or hair loss, know that there are solutions and it starts with the right diagnosis.

Hair loss treatment isn’t one-size-fits-all and this is where many people go wrong.
If you’re experiencing hair loss, you need to focus on your primary (main) treatment first. This is based on the cause and may include: • Addressing internal factors like gut health and nutritional deficiencies
• Medically supported options such as minoxidil
• In-clinic treatments like PRP (Platelet-Rich Plasma)
• DHT blockers where appropriate
These treatments target the underlying cause of hair loss.
Your supportive treatments then help optimise scalp health and improve your results: • Low-level laser light therapy (LLLT)
• Targeted supplementation
• Scalp tonics and serums
• Professional shampoos and scalp care
Think of it this way:
👉 Main treatments = targeting the cause
👉 Supportive treatments = creating the best environment for growth
A correct diagnosis is key without it, you’re just guessing.
