❄️ Silver highlights ❄️

My client had all natural hair with a few greys in before and wanted it lifted a bit more so added some silver blonde highlights.
Finished off with a choppy short style.

Are you after a new colour and don’t know what will suit you?

Ok let me help you…

🌸 First we need to work out your skin undertone.

This is the biggest factor in whether a colour will look flattering or make you look washed out.

• Cool undertones (pink, red, bluish skin): Look best with cooler shades like ash blondes, cool browns.

• Warm undertones (golden, peachy, yellow skin): Look best with warm colours like golden blondes, copper, caramel, and warm chocolate browns.

• Neutral undertones: Can carry off both warm and cool tones.

Quick test: Hold gold and silver jewellery near your face — if gold looks better, you’re warm; if silver looks better, you’re cool; if both look fine, you’re neutral.

🌸 Then we need to consider your eye colour.

Eye colour can help you decide whether to go for more contrast or harmony:

• Blue/green eyes: Cool blondes, icy browns, platinums, coppers for contrast.

• Brown/hazel eyes: Warm caramel, rich chestnut, or honey tones to bring warmth to the face.

🌸 Also your natural hair level

Your natural base can limit or expand your colour options:

• Going more than 2 shades lighter or darker usually requires more upkeep.

• Staying close to your natural level can give the most seamless, low-maintenance look.

🌸 How much are you happy to keep up with the maintenance?

• Low-maintenance: Balayage, sombre, or colours close to your natural shade.

• High-maintenance: Platinum blonde, vivid fashion colours, or deep blacks that show regrowth quickly.

• Consider how often you’re willing to have your hair done.

🌸 If you’re still unsure you can try virtual Try-On Tools.

Apps like L’Oréal Style My Hair, Wella Color DJ, or Redken’s Virtual Hair Color can give a realistic preview before committing.

💡 Pro Tip for Clients: Always bring photos of colours you love — but remember, the same shade can look very different depending on skin tone, lighting, and natural hair colour.

Something I hear all the time from my customers is how they’d like to get their hair looking as good as when I dry their hair, so I’ve put together some steps to help…

✅ Step-by-Step Breakdown:

Step 1: Start with the Right Wash
🧼 Use a shampoo depending on your goal, followed by a lightweight conditioner. Rinse with cool water to help close the cuticle.

Step 2: Towel Dry the Right Way
❌ Don’t rub!
✅ Gently squeeze out water with a microfibre towel or cotton t-shirt. Too much friction causes frizz.

Step 3: Add Heat Protection & Styling Product
🔥 Apply a heat protectant evenly from roots to ends.
✨ Add mousse for volume or a smoothing cream for sleekness.

Step 4: Section Your Hair
🎯 Divide your hair into 4–6 sections with clips.
This makes drying more precise and quicker.

Step 5: Use the Right Brush & Dryer
🌀 Use a round brush for volume and curl
🔄 A paddle brush for smooth and straight styles
💨 Always point the nozzle downwards to smooth the cuticle and boost shine.

Step 6: Dry in Layers, from Bottom to Top
Start underneath and work your way up. Keep the brush taut and the airflow following the brush.

Step 7: Cool Shot to Lock It In
💨 Once dry, use the cool shot setting on each section to lock in shape and shine.

Step 8: Finish With a Serum or Oil
💧 A tiny bit of serum or light oil (avoid roots) helps with shine and frizz control.

💡 Bonus Tips:
• Don’t start blow drying soaking wet hair. Blast it with the hairdryer until it’s about 70–80% dry.
• Invest in a good ionic dryer – it cuts frizz and drying time.

Want your colour to last longer between appointments? Save these tips! 💕

🧴 Use Sulfate-Free Shampoo
Sulfates strip colour and moisture. Switch to a gentle, colour-safe shampoo.

💧 Wash Less Often
Try to wash your hair 2–3 times a week. Dry shampoo can be your bestie!
(Although don’t ever use it more than once between washing as this can build up on your scalp and can cause hair loss as your scalp can’t breathe)

🌞 Protect from the Sun
UV rays fade hair colour fast! Use a UV-protect spray or wear a hat in strong sun.

🌡️ Cool Water Rinse
Rinsing with cool water helps seal the cuticle and lock in colour.
Also use lukewarm water if you can when shampooing too!
Hot water strips colour out of the hair cuticle (pic as shown -the left is a healthy and smooth which keeps the colour in and the hair cuticle on the right has open cuticles meaning the colour will fade faster)

🛁 Avoid Chlorine
Swimming? Wet hair first and use a swim cap or leave-in conditioner as a barrier.

💖 Book Regular Gloss Treatments
Keeps colour vibrant and adds shine between appointments.

💪 Keeping your hair healthy by using good quality hair masks, at least once a week.
You can make them even more effective by wrapping your hair in a towel.
(A hair mask is an intensive conditioner that’s used after shampooing and towel dried. Usually leave on for at least 1/2 an hour then thoroughly rinse as these tend to be thicker than normal conditioners)

Want Your Straightener Curls to Last Longer? Here’s How!

Whether it’s a glam night out or just your everyday waves, here are my pro tips to make your curls last all day (and even overnight!):

💧 Start Fresh
• Use clean, completely dry hair
• Go easy on conditioner—lighter = longer-lasting hold

🧴 Prep is Everything
• Apply heat protectant with a light hold
• Mousse or texturising spray = extra grip

💇‍♀️ Curl Like a Pro
• Curl in small sections
• Glide & twist slowly with your straighteners
• Always curl away from your face for that soft, bouncy look
• Hold each curl in your hand to cool before letting it drop

🌬️ Set the Style
• Let all curls cool before touching
• Lock it in with a flexible-hold hairspray

💤 Make It Last Overnight
• Sleep on a silk pillowcase or wrap in a silk scarf
• Try a loose high bun (“pineapple” method) to keep curls in shape
