Thank you to all of you who have supported Graeme and I in our new business venture on social media, your sharing and liking our Facebook and Instagram posts makes a big difference to how much time we have to spend trying to find clients rather than looking after them, and we know what we would rather be doing.
We would like to ask yet another favour, which is if you have ever been to see us in the past please will you write a new review for us on our page and/or on our website (www.wksm.co.uk / https://business.google.com/reviews/l/07276574060262450916). Even if you have done one for one of us on our previous pages, unfortunately we can’t carry them over for people to see, so your help will be much appreciated. Writing a review on one page and copying it to the other would be fantastic!
As a thank you, in December we will randomly select two names from the list of everyone who has written a review, and the lucky winners will win a voucher for a free appointment.
Thank you in advance – and if you’d like to book in please get in touch, it’s starting to get busy for us again!

The countdown is on… and it’s just one week to go until my exciting news will be announced! There’s been photoshoots, spreadsheets, website building and many meetings to help me get to this stage and I’m excited that the big day is almost here. It’s the final countdown!

I have been a bit quiet on social media recently, as apart from trying to take a bit of a break to recharge the batteries, there have been some exciting developments that I am working on. I will let you know more when everything is ready in a few weeks time, and while I doubt you are as excited as I am about this, I hope you will be when it’s announced – watch this space!

Did you know I’m registered with the Complementary and Natural Healthcare Council (CNHC) for Sports Massage and Massage Therapy. But what does this mean? Let me explain the benefits:
✅ It gives you assurance that I meet the UK wide government standards for safe and competent practice, that I hold professional indemnity insurance and that I comply with its Code of Conduct, Ethics and Performance.
✅ Your GP can refer you to me for treatment, AND… here comes the best bit… if you have medical insurance, your costs may be covered as the CNHC is accepted by some health cash plans and insurers for reimbursement of treatment costs.
What do you need to do?
✅ Check in with your insurance and see what they offer and whether they work alongside the CNHC. If they do, request my CNHC number and I’ll get you booked in!

If any of these sound like you, then I can help with pre- and post-event sports massage or treatments to help with regular body maintenance and reduce the chance of injury. I also offer taping to help reduce symptoms of common running injuries.

Cupping is an ancient form of alternative medicine that involves placing cups on the skin for a minutes to create suction. This suction decompresses the underlying tissue by pulling and lifting the tissue, creating space in the subcutaneous layer. The suction may facilitate healing due to increased blood flow, relieve muscle tension and promote cell repair.
What should I expect from a cupping treatment?
- I offer dry cupping, which is a suction-only method, using silicone pods called RockPods from Rocktape UK
- The cups can leave non-painful red/brown circles all over your body where the pods have been placed. These marks occur because blood vessels release blood under the skin as a result of the suction. The marks can last for 1-2 weeks, but most will fade much faster than this.
- The cups will be left on for 30-90 seconds and during this time, I may move the cups around, creating an ‘external glide’ or I may ask you to move in certain positions, creating an ‘internal glide’.
If you’re interested in learning more about this technique, drop me a line or ask about it in your next treatment.

I’ve recently completed a Functional Movement Taping with RockTape and the question I get asked most in clinic is, ‘but what does taping actually do?’ (apart from making you look like an Olympic athlete, that is).
When an injury occurs, blood and other fluids build up, resulting in inflammation and swelling. If there’s too much inflammation, excess is unable to be removed by the lymphatic system. This leads to lymphatic vessels becoming compressed, which prevents oxygen and nutrients from being delivered to healing tissues. When tape is properly applied, the elasticity in the tape gently lifts the skin from the tissues below. This lifting creates a space to improve blood and lymphatic flow, which helps to alleviate pressure and reduce swelling. Once blood flow is restored, oxygen and nutrients are better able to reach damaged tissues to help enhance healing. This in turn leads to many benefits:
- Less pain and improved function - Symptom Reduction Taping (SRT) aims to reduce pain and improve pain free function and increase pain free range of movement.
- Optimises recovery - Oedema Control Taping (OCT) will reduce swelling, enhance regional drainage and reduce hypersensitivity, therefore optimising your recovery period.
- Postural awareness - Dynamic Postural Taping (DPT) can help alter static and dynamic posture, encouraging you to think about your movement patterns and making your more aware of your posture.
- Increased proprioception
And how long does it last? The tape can be worn for 24 hours per day and can last for up to 5-7 days, but typically lasts for 2-3 days.
If you’re interested in taping, don’t hesitate to contact me or talk to me during your next session. And we can talk about the most important bit too – what colour and pattern tape you’re going to choose!
